Friends - JamesWorldNews - 14-05-2021 27th May is the date! Worth watching out for. That's a helluva long guest list! https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-57109563 Friends - Brekkie - 14-05-2021 The guest list is what puts people off. Turns it into a C5 documentary with a bigger budget. Friends - JasonB - 14-05-2021 Justin Bieber and BTS (whoever that is/they are) are the most random guests for a show of this popularity and probably weren’t even born when the show first aired but I’m guessing they’re there to bring in the high ratings/viewers. Friends - nwtv2003 - 14-05-2021 I can’t wait for social media to really disappointed about this. The celebrity cameos have put me off this to be honest. It doesn’t help that it’s being billed as the Friends Reunion, when it’s really just a show with the cast and several talking heads. It’s a shame Fwiends Reunited was already taken. Far more interested in the Friday Night Dinner retrospective the following day but that now hasadded meaning following the loss of Paul Ritter. Friends - PATV Scunthorpe - 21-05-2021 Sky acquire the rights to the Friends Reunion, also showing it on the 27th May at 8pm on Sky One https://twitter.com/skytv/status/1395748720214425609?s=21 Friends - Ash101 - 21-05-2021 It's a bit strange really for Sky to pick up the reunion for a show they don't actually air... Not strange because it's a HBO Max production & they have an existing deal with HBO, of course. Sky One did have first run rights to Friends (and ER) from Series 4 to Series 6. From memory they also had rights to repeat runs for a bit longer too. They had a habit of repeating Series 6 the most, but certainly Sky One was still repeating them as late as 2002. Obviously a lot of it depends on how long Comedy Central’s deal to show Friends lasts for (and Netflix’s on demand rights), but given the current agreement Sky has with Warner I wouldn’t be surprised if it was back on Sky at some point in the future. Friends - Ash101 - 21-05-2021 True, it would certainly complement the current stuff they show on Sky Comedy! Although with Comedy Central & Channel 5 getting good value out of the rights I doubt they’d want to lose them. Friends - JasonB - 21-05-2021 I’m guessing the sets i’ve seen from this reunion are the originals or like most shows have had re-creations made? I know the original Central Perk was still a standing set at Warner Bros. Friends - JohnnySmith - 22-05-2021 I think we're all just hoping this doesn't turn into The Inbetweeners: Fwends Reunion. Putting that as a disaster is a huge understatement. Having grown up watching Friends, it was synonymous with Sky for a while over here. I was very smug about having access and was allowed friends from school over specifically to watch the new episodes as not many of them had Sky. Looking forward to this, but I’d be much more excited if they hadn’t forced James Corden into it. Why does he need to be everywhere like a bad smell??! They are the biggest band in the world, and are expected to score yet another No1 in the Billboard Hot 100 this week with their new single which has already racked up 140,000,000 views in its first day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMweEpGlu_U So yes, probably booked to harness their popularity, but there is also a tentative link: they sang the theme tune as one of their Carpool Karaoke tracks on The Late Late Show. It was also revealed in the same interview that the lead member learned English purely from watching the show so I can imagine them getting some value out of that. I expect these celebrity appearances are going to be brief talking heads to pad out the actual reunion bits. Friends - James2001 - 22-05-2021 Might not be too bad if the talking heads actually have something of substance to say. Though the "celebrity fans" in these sorts of shows rarely do. Though I imagine they'll at least be familiar with the show, unlike the countless Channel 5 talking head shows where you know the first they've seen of the clip they're talking about was just before they were put in front of the camera to talk about it. |
