Euro 2020 (+1) - Brekkie - 10-05-2021 All of a sudden this isn't very far away at all - a unique tournament for all sorts of reasons, mainly pandemic related but it was always the plan that they'd be matches across multiple countries across the country, with England group games and the finals at Wembley. It's also Scotland's first tournament in a generation, whilst Wales make it two Euros on the bounce. The BBC have confirmed they will host from Salford - will be interesting to see if they use a modified version of their football set or the new BBC Sports set. I would assume the Wembley and Hampden games will be hosted from the stadium. Will be interesting to see if STV do their own thing for the Scotland games on ITV (vs England and Croatia). The group game split is confirmed as follows: Quote:Friday 11th JuneSource: https://www.itv.com/football/articles/watch-euro-2020-on-itv-this-summer Euro 2020 (+1) - James Martin - 10-05-2021 I assume STV will opt out to show Scotland on the 22nd, but this coverage will be simulcast on ITV4, with the England game simulcast on ITV2 to allow both games to be ultimately viewable everywhere. O/T but how much of this will pubs be allowed to show pre-21st? That Czech Republic game is going to be... well, an interesting night. Euro 2020 (+1) - BettyS - 10-05-2021 As long as they shove it on BBC2 and don't muck up the other schedules 8-) Euro 2020 (+1) - RhysJR - 11-05-2021 I had this recommended to me on YouTube earlier of an official eSports tournament which I believe is using the PES games. Probably a good preview of the graphics package for the tournament in there. (Actual matches start at around 37 minutes in) https://youtu.be/U4WDmh7U5oA?t=2168 No doubt there'll be some variations and improvements to that package, but I'm a fan of the bouncing ball and the bridge animation on the lower thirds, they tie in with the overall branding quite nicely. The overall colour scheme could be seen as a bit garish but are inoffensive enough. Euro 2020 (+1) - Brekkie - 15-05-2021 The BBC have confirmed "Crouchy’s Year Late Euros" with Peter Crouch, Maya Jama and Alex Horne will air throughout the tournament. It was originally commissioned for last year, running instead as "Save our Summer". https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2021/year-late-euros Euro 2020 (+1) - RhysJR - 15-05-2021 BBC Trailer https://twitter.com/BBCSport/status/1393616004962525186 Euro 2020 (+1) - Brekkie - 15-05-2021 "Euro 2020" is annoying me already, as will "Tokyo 2020". In the grand scheme of the costs of all of last years delays would a rebrand to 2021 really be that expensive? In the grand scheme of the costs of all of last years delays would a rebrand to 2021 really be that expensive? Agree that it's quite annoying. I keep saying to myself Euro 2021, then I remember Euro 2021 is the women's tournament which is now next year. I expect there's endless contractual reasons as well. They haven't kept the name for a laugh. In the grand scheme of the costs of all of last years delays would a rebrand to 2021 really be that expensive? Great :? :? An alternative strategy has been taking by the (Women's) Rugby World Cup. I'm not sure if that's a better way or not, it looks a little tacky. https://twitter.com/rugbyworldcup/status/1392219446928883714 Euro 2020 (+1) - JAS84 - 16-05-2021 gottago post_id=12735 time=1621104284 user_id=900 Wrote:Yeah, a whole load of merchandise had already been made, that's why Euro 2020 and Tokyo 2020 weren't updated. Every contract for the event must have been signed in the name of 'Olympic Games 2020' or similar, broadcasters and sponsors must have deals with the IOC that specifically state the '2020' games, presumably a world of re-contracting pain would have been caused by changing the name.gottago post_id=12735 time=1621104284 user_id=900 Wrote:Yeah, a whole load of merchandise had already been made, that's why Euro 2020 and Tokyo 2020 weren't updated. As we saw last year when the Eurovision replacement show and album they released last year had to avoid any reference to 'Song Contest' so they wouldn't invalidate the insurance from the actual event being cancelled, a name holds more importance that you might think. I expect Euro 2021/2 is a far less valuable event and it was easier to change, or they might have pulled a Eurovision and got the insurance to pay out on the cancelled 2021 event. Euro 2020 (+1) - Brekkie - 16-05-2021 I bet the Superbowl is feeling smug. The merchandise is a good call, though whether I'd want to buy a Euro 2020 branded product for an event I consider to be Euro 2021 I'm not sure. After all it's not as if we're calling back the Summer of '69 or want to Party Like it's 1999 - 2020 was a year most of the world was glad to see the back of it and the two big events of 2021 calling back to it is somewhat depressing. |
