I caught an edition of "The Weakest Link" on Challenge the other night and it reminded me how much I enjoyed how much the music knitted the show together.
Unless I am mistaken, the only time during which there is no music on the show is on Anne's initial introduction.
As well as enjoyable music, the editing of "The Weakest Link" is really tight.
I also love the use of music on both "Brass Eye" and "The Day Today" which is particularly effective at conveying the mood and the tempo of the shows.
What are your favourite examples of music in TV pres?

I think pres is generally taken to mean the bits between the programmes and adverts rather than the programmes themselves, but I think the Millionaire music was pretty iconic, and probably inpired the Weakest Link

Without a doubt WWTBAM inspired TWL. Two of my favourite shows from my childhood. Adding Big Brother into that mix, another one of my favourites.

True, Steve, and I did actually think about the point you raise before starting the thread.
My decision to do so was based on the fact that theme music is discussed as part of the overall presentation for news programmes and channels.
And there's also a thread that's growing faster than this one in the Pres forum about the European Super League which is sort of about pres but really isn't.
Agreed on Millionaire - great music and I agree that it is more than likely to have inspired the Weakest Link.

It’s got to be Line of Duty for me. Builds the suspense perfectly and almost gives you goosebumps when it kicks in after a cliffhanger like last nights episode.

Can't believe I forgot to include this in my original post because, for the last 15 years, this has been one of my annual TV highlights.
Great British Menu.
Fantastic programme with the best UK chefs putting their egos and reputations on the line to cook at a special end of series banquet.
The music has not changed in the last 15 years and it paces the programme brilliantly.
