NHK World is currently switching between broadcasting domestic programming with simultaneous interpretation, and special Newsline programming.
I do not want to speculate about his condition, but current reports are that he is very seriously injured. My thoughts are with Mr Abe, and his family, friends and colleagues at this time.

They've been switching between news and documentaries for a couple of hours now. The amount of new information has been very limited, and you can only repeat the same info for so long. Abe's wife has just arrived at the hospital, so I'd expect another update soon.

Several broadcasters are now reporting the death of Shinzo Abe. NHK World is currently showing sumo programming, but I imagine they will be returning to news programming shortly.

NHK World broke away from simulcasting, they returned to a special edition of Newsline, where they recapped the news, then showed a 3 day weather forecast for Asia and they are now showing a documentary

Been a few years since I've had regular sight of Japanese television but the use of physical props and printed cards was a very common thing on their news programmes.
Also all sorts of uses of graphics that would look strange to us, 3D characters with flags for heads used to represent international negotiations and that sort of thing.

One comment that I held off mentioning earlier was that I thought a lot of the phrasing used before the formal announcement was interesting.
Normally, we see reports in this sort of situation progress from initial injury to the victim's condition to the victim's death (when applicable). But in this case, we had a lengthy period where there were apparently "no vital signs" but he was still apparently alive. Having looked at some discussions elsewhere, this seems to be a common practice in Japanese media. I've not got any official sources for this, but it is claimed that decades ago, the Japan Medical Association complained that media outlets were reporting people as being deceased when doctors/coroners had not yet been able to confirm so and complete all the relevant documentation.
Since then, it has become common practice that when the media suspects that a person has died, they will instead describe them as having suffered a "[font=sans-serif]cardiopulmonary arrest" or as having "no vital signs". A person will only be described as deceased once a doctor/coroner is willing to do so.[/font]
