TV-am start up - Moz - 01-06-2022

Anyone know where I could get any of the TV-am start-up music decent quality or even just the original Good Morning Britain theme?

Transdiffusion's soundcloud account has this:

Didn't the startup sequence use the Daybreak and GMB themes (TV-am versions of both programmes)

Yes. Daybreak theme of course later reused for Frost on Sunday, because why bother commissioning a new tune when there's a perfectly good one they only got two months out of in the first place. Smile

Completely lost me. Wasn’t Daybreak the one with Adrian Chiles after GMTV?

Yes but...

The original Daybreak (as part of TV-am) was the programme Robert Kee initially presented in February 1983 which famously bombed in the ratings and as a result he soon buggered off, as did Daybreak itself which was dead in the water by the end of May format wise, so GMB got the bulk of the airtime being more successful and appealing to advertisers than Kee's programme was.

That theme was later rehashed for David Frost's programme on Sunday mornings on TV-am, and Frost on Sunday (as it was called by that point) was pinched by the BBC and it ran until 2005.

Just shows there aren’t many names for a breakfast show.
