The Sport Thread - BcastCornwall - 04-11-2021 Some broadcasters run time synchronised coverage across platforms, think 'Goals Show' minus presentation, which relies on timing being accurate at least at the start of the period of play. Being late for some also impacts on the amount of post match discussion time available with tight schedules. The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 04-11-2021 Broadcast Sport Awards last night, here's some of the main winners: https://twitter.com/broadcast_sport/status/1456025851523436553 https://twitter.com/broadcast_sport/status/1456027390010855428 https://twitter.com/broadcast_sport/status/1456028429355266053 https://twitter.com/broadcast_sport/status/1456024588886888451 Full list of winners and nominees: https://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/broadcasting/broadcast-sport-awards-2021-the-winners/5164917.article The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 04-11-2021 Could be a significant development in BBC cricket coverage (and beyond) with Vaughan being the BBC's lead cricket analyst across the TV and radio coverage as well working in Australia over the British winter. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59170256 BBC Sport Wrote:Former England captain Michael Vaughan says he was named in Yorkshire's Azeem Rafiq report but "totally denies any allegation of racism". More from the man himself: https://twitter.com/TelegraphSport/status/1456362679648624650 The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 04-11-2021 Worth noting the qualifying period for the Broadcast Sports Award ended the day before the US Open Final - a couple of days later and suspect that might have won the Moment of the Year award. Can't find a list of nominees but I think with most outcomes you can see how they get there, though Pougatch is a bit of a surprise, not that it isn't undeserved. I thought the ITV team did a great job on the Euros final, far better than the BBC for me who got a bit too caught up in the occassion. I thought the ITV team did a great job on the Euros final, far better than the BBC for me who got a bit too caught up in the occassion. I drafted that this morning and forgot to post it, but since then Broadcast have uploaded a full list of winners and nominees here. I'll add the link to the original post now as well. The other nominees for Moment of the Year was: Dame Sarah Storey’s record-breaking 17th gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics - Whisper for Channel 4 Emma Raducanu’s winning serve at the US Open - IMG Studios for Amazon Prime Video and C4 Harry Kane’s penalty during England vs Denmark at Euro 2020 - ITV Sport for ITV The Sport Thread - JAS84 - 05-11-2021 Winning serve from an earlier match? The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 05-11-2021 Does state for Amazon/C4 so must be the final though the website states the qualifying period ended on the 10th September and the final was on the 11th September. Tom's moment though a worthy winner and as viewers who had followed his journey for so long, a journey that often led to bronze at the Olympics, I think we were invested in it. It's so much trickier now though with the Olympics for individual moments to stand out now we win so damn much - even double Olympic Champions barely get any recognition when prior to Kelly Holmes and then Rebecca Adlington (and Chris Hoy with the triple) that really was a rare feat. The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 05-11-2021 Apparrently we're doing this again...?? https://twitter.com/SkySports/status/1456595903792488448 The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 05-11-2021 Can't think of a sport less suited to verti-vision. The Sport Thread - AxG - 05-11-2021 I don't like vertical video, but if they're gonna use it; use it on a sport that doesn't have much left-right camera movement. The Sport Thread - Rdd - 05-11-2021 I’m not even sure what need it’s addressing. Is there a suggestion out there that sports fans don’t like holding their phones at landscape orientation? BBC have taken action by dropping Michael Vaughan from 5 Live on Monday. It doesn't look like this story has finished just yet, so who knows when he will appear again. https://twitter.com/danroan/status/1456662190388305922 The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 05-11-2021 Sad to hear Katherine Downes is leaving the BBC soon. Has always been a professional and enjoyable prescence whenever she appeared on bulletins and live coverage. https://twitter.com/KDownesBBC/status/1456649513960148992 PS She will still continue to cover diving (and then presumably skating and probably Wimbledon) for the BBC https://twitter.com/KDownesBBC/status/1456650259719929860 The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 05-11-2021 Sounds like she's just leaving the news role to cover more live action - and given the sort of sports she is usually involved with that will likely mostly be with the BBC. She is certainly one to watch though - from what I've seen she is superb. Talking presentation no news yet who is anchoring the two BBC FA Cup matches, with only confirmation that Manish Bhasin will continue fronting the Sunday night highlights show. Mark Pougatch is hosting three of the four matches live on ITV and ITV4, with Seema Jaswal doing the other one. No ITV highlights show by the looks of it - I'd actually of thought there might be value in letting the BBC handle them at the weekend but doing a wrap up on Monday night or even Tuesday evening of the entire round.
