Agreed. Really hope they use that in the titles. It such a flexible device for the graphics generally too.

Surely the reason the service is called BBC Sounds rather then BBC Radio is that it has other things on it than radio stations - podcasts and whatnot. It's not supposed to be a synonym for Radio. There's no logic in calling radio stations "Sounds", it would be like calling the TV channels iPlayer 1, iPlayer 2, etc.

I can’t help but think you’re going to be slightly disappointed when BBC News looks very little different on the day BBC One rebrands.
But don’t be surprised - in 97, it took 18 months for the look to change in news substantively. These things take time.
We already know that the nationals are planning changes in studios for next spring. So joining the dots, or even three blocks…, is not rocket science.

We’re all used to being disappointed by BBC rebrands to be honest, but let us dream.
To be honest I don’t see any connection between the 1997 blocks logo and the 1999 News rebrand.

To be fair (and I'm no fan of the current set up), 'Oneness' grew out of a Christmas campaign which actually worked quite well. Contextually, I think it's fair to say there was a certain division in society at the time and the idea of coming together at Christmas worked quite well. Where I think it went off the rails was trying to emulate Martin Parr's photographic style as a kind of visual text. It has always struck me that there's a nice idea behind the idents but actually, for a flagship channel, it just comes across as a bit wishy-washy and certainly lacking in a 'creative concept'.
