The ITV Regional news will commence at 6pm as usual. I doubt very much whether is the need for an extra update, The BBC stopped doing that eons ago. I do know there will be a set refresh although the VR will remain. The ITV newsroom hasn't even begun to move to the basement yet. That process alone will take months and there are unfortunately no plans for a Newsroom set. A Static camera point at most. ITV News Changes from March - excel99 - 26-01-2022 chris post_id=65145 time= user_id=1265 Wrote:The Thursday 8:30 slot is basically what is currently the Thursday 7:30 slot - Tonight plus opts for the nations. The opt-out situation isn't that uniform currently. This week, ITV Wales are using Tuesday 1930 and taking Tonight at 1930 on Thursday just like 'network'. ITV Border Scotland don't seem to have a peaktime opt this week, but last week used Tuesday 1930 and took Tonight at the same time as 'network'. Plus I'm sure some weeks the nations have more than one peaktime opt - presumably as 'network' has new Breaking Dad and For The Love of Dogs currently, plus no Friday 30 minute slot, the nations are 'light' on opts, and they will make up their annual quota when 'network' has more repeats or lower profile shows ITV News Changes from March - chris - 26-01-2022 Yes they don’t always opt out of Tonight but regularly do. This set refresh. Will this just be for the extended 6:30 programme or for all ITV News and will it include new opening titles, updated music etc? ITV News Changes from March - Brekkie - 27-01-2022 As nice as a new look across all ITV News programming would be I wouldn't be against the lunchtime and weekend news keeping what they have and the Evening News getting a new look within that concept like News at Ten did a few years ago. I’ve no idea on music or network roll out. ITV News Changes from March - Rob - 27-01-2022 It's at this point where I shall interject and remind members that you are not to hassle verified members of the forum for information about the changes. If a verified member is being hassled, they can report the messages to me and I will deal with them. Also, I politely ask verified members to refrain from sharing information that is not in the public domain. Many thanks, as you were... ITV News Changes from March - itsrobert - 27-01-2022 I understand that it's going to involve fairly minor changes and tweaks rather than anything too radical. The "evolution rather than revolution" approach is how it's been described to me. The "evolution rather than revolution" approach is how it's been described to me.That actually sounds the best way forward. I do feel huge massive revamps of news presentation cause problems. Sky News are aware of that, after their huge revamp in 2005 which led to tweak after tweak and alterations to the presentation, when they realised the initial new look was not perfect. A low key change is all that is required, as I have been very impressed with the current ITV News look since Jan 2013. That revamp has to have been one of the best they ever did, so only slight changes are needed to freshen the news programmes up. ITV News Changes from March - Stanley Matravers - 29-01-2022 I have always felt that the way the current namestraps animate on/off is too "busy" and distracting, so I would welcome a change to something simpler. ITV News Changes from March - Brekkie - 31-01-2022 One thing odd about these changes is they've not trialed it at all, whether for known events like the budget or developing stories on the day like we have today. I think throughout covid they've only gone past 7pm once in response to the days events to cover a statement at 7pm. They had a 45 minute ITV Evening News not that long ago where we all wondered the reason for it? I would have thought that would have been a kind of trial or pilot to gauge reaction. They've already made the decisions and been given the green light. They certainly didn't do any research before messing around News At Ten. Big movies and dramas were enough to make that call to the dismay of ITN. |
