I expect Alison & Dermot will continue to do Fridays up until the summer series. The only reason Eamonn & Ruth took the 2/3 weeks off beforehand was to have some rest before their 6/7 week summer stint.

There is no "making up" to do - decisions have been made to use Eamonn and Ruth less. They've confirmed they're doing 7 weeks, so probably the full holidays. Whether they'll do Fridays during the summer will be interesting, or whether they continue with Alison and Dermot, probably with Rochelle in the mix too and maybe another guest presenter or two.
I strongly suspect though it'll be their last summer run on the show.

I've seen an ISO feed video on YouTube of one of the Australian networks when they were in the UK for Harry and Meghan's wedding and it does show how hectic it is during the bits when they are not on camera.

Dermot and Alison have now finished for the summer and said they'll be back in September. Holly and Phil finish next Friday, so looks like Eamonn and Ruth will either do the full week over summer or it'll be guest hosts on Fridays.

As Brekkie said previously, there’s no “making up” to do. There seems to be a feeling the show owes Eamonn & Ruth something. It doesn’t. They’ll just offer them whatever slot they have available and presumably pay them as freelancers for that period. I much prefer E&R to either of the other pairings, and don’t like the way they were dropped from the regular lineup, but they’re really no different to any other random pairings they’ve brought in over the summer or for holidays now as far as production is concerned - they’ll contract them to fill the gap in the schedule. I doubt there’s a tally of dates they have to hit per annum.

I’m expecting there to be a refresh in September. Whether it’s the set, graphics, music, or all three. The set has lasted six years, with a minor tweak here or there. Don’t get me wrong, it’s the best one they’ve ever had but it’s time for something fresher.
