Yes, I'm keenly waiting to hear about the tech specs. With how much they seem to be pushing ITVX, hopefully they've put some investment into the streaming quality and backend. It would be quite disappointing if it's just a glorified reskin of ITV Hub...

While many people watch it live, I would expect a sporting event to be more likely?

There aren't any. The next big one is the World Cup, but that's in November, presumably after ITVX will have already launched.

Prime video have updated their app which is definitely an improvement and I’ve noticed the Itv Hub+ subscription part is just called ITV catch-up now.

This is the temporary looking logo for the Amazon Channel.

Same logo on Sky.

Do you think that’s because a “catch up” service is exactly what’ll be offered now via Sky or Amazon etc?

The actual ITVX stuff, as in BritBox integration, shows available months ahead of linear airing & content like CBS will only be via the official apps or website.

Amazon have Britbox as a channel as well, so they'd either have to integrate Britbox into a new ITVX channel or axe it in November.

I think the former option is more likely than the latter IMO.

RE: ITV Launch ITVX to replace ITVHub - RR - 29-07-2022

Re Sky (and Virgin), the following was part of the release yesterday:

Quote:In terms of streaming, viewing on our own services and Amazon was up 21% with a strong schedule of drama, sport and entertainment, including the success of Love Island. This was offset by over 20% declines in viewing on other streaming services such as Sky and Virgin, where we have taken the strategic decision to reduce the availability of pre-transmission drama drops and box sets, where we cannot serve and monetise dynamic advertising. Following the launch of ITVX, our app we will be embedded in these platforms enabling full monetisation of this type of viewing. In total, streaming hours were up 6%.

ITVX will arrive in the fourth quarter of this year.
