My prediction for that date mentioned at page 82 was correct, but when that staff member said “around about the 21st”, well, who knows. It could be the 20th, 21st, or 22nd, but most likely, the 21st. Despite the new logo being similar to the current one, I’m excited for the rebrand!

This principle of visual alignment is also the reason why if you look closely at, for example, a line of text, the letters with curves at the bottom sit slightly below the baseline.

So the B should have been nudged slighly to the right to make it appear centred, even if technically it isn't.

Interestingly with the C, they've got it right, and nudged it slighly to the left to compensate for its curved left-hand side.

But in the case of the Bs, a fundamental principle of graphic design appears to have been ignored or overlooked. Whilst I don't have a problem with the concept and style of the new logo, and what I've seen of the way it's being used is quite impressive, I do think the logo itself has been very poorly made – especially for something which is going to be the face of such a large and well known global organisation.

Had a play moving the Bs to the right by half the distance between the top bowl of the B and the bottom bowl…

I’m still not quite sure what the News logo is supposed to be, and the Sport logo I thought looked much better when it was 1st, 2nd and 3rd podiums.

It’s interesting that these are the core brands that they are focusing on. Considering the size of the BBC, with all its different faculties and outlets, it would be impossible to roll this out across the board.
