Yes indeed another continuity error from ITV on UTV tonight.
But again - why oh why can we not have a local UTV staffer in Belfast pre-record these idents into local UTV programmes?
It happens already weekdays at 6pm with Katie Andrews voicing into UTV Live At Six.

UTV Ireland brought on UTV's financial collapse, and ITV plc saw this as an opportunity to snap up UTV for a reasonable bargain, and they did.
You have to go back a bit further to understand better UTV’s rationale with UTV Ireland, and to understand that until TV3 did their deal with Granada in late 2000, ITV (mostly UTV) was the second most viewed channel in the Republic - it was bigger than RTE2 (or Network 2 back then), and early TV3 was a mix of Channel 5 stuff and US mini series and other imports. And it had a position in the TV advertising market to match. It (and Channel 4) were selling advertising in ROI long before any of the opt out services began and they were the “go to” channels for All-Ireland campaigns at a point when ROI terrestrial channels weren’t available in most of NI.
UTV wanted to reclaim their position in ROI, and saw all the U.K. channels with Irish opt out advertising, and wanted a piece of that. It failed due to a mix of not being Irish enough for some and not being UTV enough for others. And its long term effect has been to utterly destroy ITV’s position in the Irish market. But hey, they’re getting a guaranteed pay out from VMTV each year for licensing their programmes, so not all bad.

I guess I just want other ITV PLC operated regions to know and understand what we're having to put up with. Let's say the exact number of errors we have were going out on the Network feed week after week, this forums members (and rightly so) would be climbing the walls with rage and will be demanding immediate action to be made by the London booth.
When I ask for better standards for UTV, I'm told to just accept it and deal with it?!?
I still believe in raising the standards for local announcements on UTV, and I will continue to ensure ITV are held to account.

But the amount of mis pronounced programmes we keep getting on UTV opt outs, since the London booth took over has been way above what anyone else would accept in their ITV PLC operated Region. Like I've said before, I bet if we looked at an entire weeks worth of ITV Wales or ITV Border Scotland opt out announcements, we would clearly see how badly and shockingly the UTV region is treated.

Rob is quite correct - all of England and Wales had no say in the mincing of their regions all into one ITV channel branding. They simply got used to it. We know where our regional news is at, and we understand ITV had chosen a path to reduce regional content to basic regional news, we have accepted it.
Maybe UTV viewers have had the luxury until recently of having their region independently owned, and then with the new owners, it seems you just can't take the new direction. Well if this is the case, there is no reason to kick up a fuss, as you will not be listened to by ITV plc.
Remember if ITV never listened to the juggernaut regions of Granada, Central, Carlton etc - they will not listen to UTV viewers complaints about presentation.
Once again Rob is perfectly correct - you are wasting your time and energy in this.

I get all the above about ITV Regions having to deal with it. However, us in Northern Ireland are still seeing listings for UTV, programmes for UTV Life etc and EPG still showing UTV, then ludicrously on air idents/breakbumpers and the majority of continuity using ITV.
I also believe UTV has the most (correct me if I’m wrong) opt outs. It cannot be that difficult pre-recording the link and running past someone at City Quays?
As I write this - we have just had a look at programming tomorrow - with ITV continuity and the ITV ident with UTV’s Katie Andrews in to UTV Live. It just doesn’t wash with me that you have a local voice doing news opt out announcements but not for local programming idents.
