I think just to say “I don’t get it” when there has been a lot of discussion of how idents would have three versions of the same space is a bit closed-minded. It might not be immediately obvious from that first outing, but the idea is clearly there!
I think this is a vast improvement over what came before and the lens allows for many more versions of these idents in the future! Plus having a soundtrack again is wonderful

My thoughts exactly, I don't get the connection.
Basically, each ident consists of a constant venue/setting- in this case, a warehouse. What we see through the lens is 3 different scenarios at the same place.

The lens animation looks rather flat and basic, not remotely as good as the more sophisticated diamond animation in the BBC HD idents, which more made more than ten years earlier. However at least now the blips make some kind of sense!
The way the action of the main scene within the circle becomes offset with its surrounding reminds me a lot of the BBC Four idents.

Honestly the idents aired so far remind me of both the Rhythm and Movement idents and the BBC HD idents.

Agreed. They remind me of the beautifully filmed but utterly nonsensical final BBC HD idents.
The one that sticks in my mind was the cat turning into the tiger. HD sharpens up an existing image, it doesn't turn it into different.
Remember when they introduced the people idents into the balloon era and many of us hated it because it took away from the symbol? It's all just people idents now. Yawn.

I think it's a case of "you'll warm up to them over time" like it was with the BBC logo itself.
Personally, they're alright, though I wish the lens effect carried on a bit longer/more clearer to see.

The problem with the skaters ident is that's not at all clear that the other scenarios are taking place in the same setting. In the second ident it was a lot more obvious. I think they should have launched with a different ident so that the concept was obvious from the start.

It's a railway arch. The idents show three things that happen in that location - skating, an art exhibition (or life drawing) and a rave style party
But there are three different versions, so one you see the skaters and the art and ravers in the wipe. Another it'll be the ravers with the art and skaters wiping across and the third is the art with the skaters and ravers.
I think they'll become more obvious once all 3 are seen, you can join the dots
