ITV News: March 2022 onwards - watchingtv - 12-03-2022 Gamal has excellent experience with rolling news, previously at Sky. ITV News: March 2022 onwards - Brekkie - 12-03-2022 That might explain his absense from Granada Reports last night then where he usually hosts Tue-Fri and Lucy Mon-Thu rather than both being off on a Friday. I find it odd they continue with these at full length (thought they might chopped an hour off them) but have already dropped the This Morning news summaries completely. I guess though if they weren't finding an audience they wouldn't continue with them. ITV News: March 2022 onwards - Solari - 12-03-2022 I've never understood why they send all these regional presenters down to ITN at the weekends, rather than using their own people or hiring a permanent weekend newscaster. Having said that, I do agree Gamal is excellent. Having said that, I do agree Gamal is excellent.Because the salary for someone to be hired to present weekends would be, I don’t know, £80k? I imagine regional presenters have it in their contacts and, in most cases, quite enjoy doing the odd “proper news” shift down in London so it probably just costs them the travel expenses. I did suspect it was down to financial reasons. Though by 'hiring a weekend newscaster' I didn't necessarily mean hire from outside - I'm sure there are plenty of people within ITN who would be more than capable. But anyway... ITV News: March 2022 onwards - London Lite - 12-03-2022 The ever close relationship these days between ITV News and STV continues as Kathryn Samson, STV's Westminster Correspondent was on ITV News at lunchtime in the studio with Sangeeta Kandola. ITV News: March 2022 onwards - JakeTVFan - 12-03-2022 No Social Distancing - Still Distanced on News at Ten, Lunchtime News and the Weekend Network. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3EM7I7oHbU ITV News: March 2022 onwards - nwtv2003 - 12-03-2022 Solari post_id=73074 time= user_id=1734 Wrote:I've never understood why they send all these regional presenters down to ITN at the weekends, rather than using their own people or hiring a permanent weekend newscaster. Having said that, I do agree Gamal is excellent. They did have a phase a few years ago when they often got the main presenters in for the Sunday evening and late bulletins on the basis that they were the most watched bulletins of the week. Alastair Stewart regularly presented on Sundays during this time. Whilst it’s a shame there isn’t a permanent anchor, it’s nice to see some of the regional presenters get the chance to front the national news. Having said that, I do agree Gamal is excellent. Further to this, the same is also schedule for next Sunday morning. But rather more interestingly next Sunday evening there’s a 45 minute ITV Evening News scheduled for 8:15pm after the FA Cup, and the next bulletin remains at 10:00pm. I’m not sure if this is a mistake but if not it’s an unusual bit of scheduling. ITV News: March 2022 onwards - JAS84 - 13-03-2022 On a Sunday, it wouldn't normally even be half an hour. I think that's probably supposed to be a 15 minute bulletin, followed by a half hour filler show. Or that 45 minutes goes down to 15 if extra time happens in the football-just a thought, but i would thought they would have done the bulletin before the coverage of the football started not have the two bulletins so close together. ITV News: March 2022 onwards - Brekkie - 13-03-2022 Yes, the BBC has the match immediately before so they would have had the time. Guess they also lack the half hour filler shows. ITV News: March 2022 onwards - CameronYoung - 13-03-2022 Did they ever move away from this style of 'breaking news' graphic? I haven't seen it in a while ![]() I know there's an alternative one, seen here, with no information of the story on - is this one just for newsflashes? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nA5BeCPuA4 ITV News: March 2022 onwards - Solari - 14-03-2022 Was milling about on the old site and found a VERY old thread discussing the possibility of moving the Evening News to 7pm. This post in particular, from nwtv2003, caught my eye: Quote: I can't ever see ITV sticking the News on at 7.00pm, the 7.00pm slot is very valuable to ITV and it would see the audience half at that time, plus it's been home to Emmerdale since the late 1980's, ITV aren't that stupid. And now look what we have - an hour long news and Emmerdale at 7.30! How times change, eh? How wrong I was. |
