BBC One: 2021 Rebrand - ConorM98 - 31-03-2022 I wonder if the announcers during the course of the day will mention a new look before the big reveal? Thistle, I'm hoping this won't be one huge April Fools joke... Please don't let me down... Assuming the 7pm debut is genuine (it no doubt is: I can think of better April Fools jokes), I can envisage BBC news bulletins during the day carrying an "And finally..." type report on the end of One-ness / the creation of the new idents. Tradition says you can not play an April fools Joke after mid-day since the time between midnight and mid-day has passed, so anyone who plays a joke after this time will they themselves be the joke and will have to undertake a forfeit. I'm sure I speak for everybody that says thank you keeping us informed, that goes for the others in the know that have contributed too. So how many idents does BBC1 have now to launch with? That's fascinating and a little surprising. Ever had problems sending and had to start again? BBC One: 2021 Rebrand - Thistle - 01-04-2022 This will be the last handover to the news channel using Oneness... tomorrow sees a new look for BBC One! Unsure if there will be any mention in the closedown. Oh yes, plenty of times! I remember spending a week trying to send something to an Asian broadcaster but over night it would just crash or reset back to 1% sent. I can't remember what the exact cause was now but it was an issue on their end which the Aspera file delivery system didn't like. It looked good floating over the country and it was nice seeing other parts of the country. Also, it was inventive and even moreso when it could be added electronically to any piece of film. Most of the idents since then have felt lazy and lacking a clear symbol for the channel. To go off on a slight tangent but bear with me. In America you have CBS referred to as The Eye Network, ABC as The Alphabet Network and NBC as The Peacock Network. They have logos that have lasted for decades with minor tweaks and reinforce the identity of the channels. British TV has this obsession with completely changing logos every few years. A channel is then constantly having to build up an identity. BBC1 was known for having a globe, it was iconic branding. When the balloon globe went BBC1 has lacked a strong identity. That's another reason why they're missed, certainly in my case. The circles were close to this. It was a shame those beautiful idents got butchered with edits and awful music. Apart from the new music to Helicopter though, that was banging! Also didn't like how near the end the 'BBC One' wasn't always in a circle. It's weird to think you had the same problem as Joe Public at home trying to download a large file to a computer! :o

BBC One: 2021 Rebrand - AxiosBrit67 - 01-04-2022 Usually the announcer would mention it when new set of idents appear, like BBC Three startup with new branding. Unless that, launching new idents in the evening sounds more hype than in the morning before Breakfast, giving that more people watching television in the evening rather than morning. Many of them are curious to see what new idents like for the audience. Won't the last junction for One-ness be at 6pm? I can't see the announcer(s) mentioning it then as they introduce the BBC News at Six. I wouldn't be surprised if One-ness just slips off without a mention. BBC One: 2021 Rebrand - Inspector Sands - 01-04-2022 Without giving too much away.... The comment many many pages ago about them having a BBC HD feel is a good call, that's exactly what they reminded me of when I saw them. My opinion is that they're a nice concept and executed well well, but they are a little dull. A definite step up from what they have now though hopefully having more new versions will help that The worries about locations and representation are unfounded - the scenes are so generic they could be anywhere Not long to go now EDIT: of course I could well have just seen the news versions |
