And it probably will do absolutely nothing to stop them being privatised.

VM Sport in Ireland have unveiled a new setup in place for their coverage of the UEFA EL/ECL this evening.

They are showing games from the EL tonight from VM Two/Sport but no games from the ECL. They are using the new titles & graphics from both competitions. Their studio is lit up in orange lighting. There is also new desk in the middle of it. Both the presenter and analysis have to stand up for the whole programme instead of sitting down on seats. VM Two has coverage of 2 matches tonight with it ending at 10:30pm. Their coverage of UEFA CL games on Wednesday nights in the same studio have seats included for the presenter & their 2 analysts with a table showing the VM Logo in the middle of them.

Bernard O'Toole & Gerry Armstrong are providing the match commentary for Real Betis vs Celtic on VM Two.

Caught a few seconds of the VMTV coverage and it is co-branded UEFA Europa League/UEFA Europa Conference League with both logos and the green and orange wave devices on either side of the screen.

For some possible reference, BBC Scotland still do not send any staff to Ibrox to cover matches due to their longoing disagreement.
And asking for media outlets to pay £25 000 to have one journalist and photographer attend the stadium and press conferences wasn't popular withthe media earlier this year either:

On the BBC Scotland point, if it was an English Premier League surely the league would have come down to the club.

Sinn Féin kicking off about Saturday's All-Ireland football final - Tyrone v Mayo - not being on BBC Northern Ireland:

I thought RTÉ was available across NI on Freeview now?

The Sport Thread - Transmission - 17-09-2021

Apologies if this was already mentioned, but Jermaine Jenas made his debut as BT Sport's lead Europa League presenter last night. Think many have been expecting for some time that he'd make the leap from pundit to presenter, especially after he started doing things like the One Show.

It is but some programmes are geo-blocked if a pay tv broadcaster has the rights for example UEFA Champions League or GAA. There are ways around it if you have a tv with Soarview as well as Freeview etc or through aerials as I can get RTE & Virgin UEFA Coverage in Northern Ireland and other events like Pro14 etc however I don't follow GAA but it is a strange position for Sinn Fein to take blaming BBC NI when the GAA sold the rights to the highest bidder in Sky Sports. Yes they kept a FTA presence in the Republic of Ireland and in BBC NI still have the Ulster Senior Football Championship but the All Ireland Series went solely to RTE & Sky Sports.

Gabby Logan to present BBC Wales' Scrum V Live when the URC starts next week. Catrin Heledd to continue to present the Sunday highlights show.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Phil Steele will not return as the programme's pitchside reporter but will remain involved in BBC Wales' output. My prediction would be a features reporter at a lower division club game on Saturdays for the Sunday show.

That's interesting - thanks. Agree, it does look like Sinn Fein having a pop for the sake of it, the BBC being an easier target than the GAA!

The Sport Thread - Rdd - 17-09-2021

GAA coverage is *not* geoblocked on RTE in NI (or TG4 for that matter) - although extra time in the Tyrone v Kerry semifinal was accidentally geoblocked on Sky due to the EPG not being updated and the scheduled lead out programme being a UEFA magazine programme which does get geoblocked.

The issue appears to be more that it’s not on an NI local channel (some people can’t receive RTE even between NI mini mux, Sky, VM, and Saorview coverage). The Ulster GAA sells an Ulster football package to BBC NI but All Ireland Series games aren’t included in this.

I can't remember whether Rangers have a glass box style studio (or whether it would have been usable due to Covid constraints), or if 'studio' actually means a desk on pitchside. BT have definitely presented Celtic away games from Ibrox (and Rangers away games from Celtic Park before), probably with Chris Sutton at all of them.

The match ended up being presented from the studio in London.
