The Sport Thread - James2001 - 12-09-2021 London Lite post_id=39365 time= user_id=953 Wrote:Watching tonight's tennis on the Firestick and it's 1920x1080/50fps. Still only 25p through Virgin and Roku though. The Sport Thread - James2001 - 12-09-2021 Was going to ask if anyone else was having sound problems, but they've just apologised for them and supposedly it's down to power issues at flushing meadows. The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 12-09-2021 "Sounds problem onsite out of our control" Catherine Whittaker and Greg Rusedski (and now Daniela) doing commentary/analysis from the studio. The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 12-09-2021 And we're back with Jim and Tim The Sport Thread - harshy - 12-09-2021 Seemed fine on espn, I think they have three commentators on site, awful blocky graphics though. The Sport Thread - James2001 - 12-09-2021 Sound on the commentary has gone funny again- more problems? The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 12-09-2021 Gone again - they'll be glad it happened tonight and not last night. Assume it's something a bit wider than just Prime (even if ESPN were fine) as most broadcasters at this point would default to the world feed (which is also onsite) but we're not getting that. The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 13-09-2021 Thinking back to last night and although it seems Amazon are not going to provide their ratings where does it sit alongside other moments in British womens sport when it comes to ratings? I'm guessing it would be a list dominated by the Olympics and obviously events like Jess Ennis winning the heptathlon on Super Saturday and 20 years earlier Sally Gunnell winning gold at the Olympics were part of a wider broadcast, but victories like the Womens Hockey in 2016 and Womens Curling back in 2002 were effectively their own broadcast, though I can't find the ratings now. A recent example that springs to mind is the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. The most watched match was the semi-final between England and the USA that had a peak rating of 11.7 million. https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2019/womens-world-cup-audience 16.3 million watched Jess Ennis-Hill's 2012 Olympic gold winning moment https://www.whattowatch.com/news/olympics-super-saturday-scores-17m-audience-200305 The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 13-09-2021 For the first time in a long time, the Women's Football Show was studio based this week rather than at a ground that hosted a match on the Sunday. Last season the WFS presenter was usually the presenter/reporter of the match that was live earlier in the day on the Red Button before pre-recording the show. Kelly Somers was pitchside at Chelsea v. Everton but the arrangements were different today. It was mentioned on air that the studio was in London, I think it may be the same one used back when the show was reguarly studio based. ![]() As a related aside, both the Women's Football Show and Sky's Inside the WSL are both available to view on the FA Player. The Sport Thread - harshy - 13-09-2021 Eurosport also showed the us open and another one of IMGs studio was in operation for the Cube, definitely busy in Chiswick then
The Sport Thread - Meteor - 13-09-2021 Istr Team GB winning the women's hockey at Rio was 10m viewers. I guess that may well be the record for a recent women's sport broadcast. The previous women's tennis record in the UK was Konta in the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 2017, 7.4m viewers. https://www.wtatennis.com/news/1417745/konta-halep-thriller-breaks-tv-ratings-record The Sport Thread - Newshound47 - 13-09-2021 Meteor post_id=39480 time= user_id=1780 Wrote:Istr Team GB winning the women's hockey at Rio was 10m viewers. I think the Modern record for a Women’s match is 10.3m average and a 11.7m peak for England v USA at the 2019 Women’s World Cup semi. Super Saturday in 2012 through featured the 800m of the heptathlon and 100m final which might have beat it in terms of most watched Female sporting moment. The Sport Thread - Meteor - 13-09-2021 Ah yes, the Women's World Cup. Wasn't that match on BBC2? Which makes those numbers all the more impressive. |
