Well this is peak TV (live) Forum. A small nugget of information that's about as generic as it gets and people go crazy.
Heaven only knows what'll happen when anything official comes out... six million pages in 20 minutes.

Assume that rebranding is official, there will be millions around the world that will flock to TV Live Forum to discuss about the "hot-topic" BBC rebrand, many of them will bashing the BBC about their new ident and will be post the critical opinion in Daily Mail or Express. It was never happened in 1997 when internet was in early stage and web forums and social media was not existent. The people only know the BBC rebrand on newspapers, where the access were almost restricted to those living in the UK.

Web forums did exist in 1997. Just not on the "web" bit. Usenet was the forum of its day back then.
The internet as I've mentioned before has been around in one form or another since the 1960s, its modern form in the 1980s and then Freeserve came along in 1998 to revolutionise internet access.

Yes. I started using Usenet in 1998, initially to investigate a problem with my car's engine.
I'm still on it now, along with some of the folk who were there back in 1998. Totally unmoderated, and off topic threads that veer off and go on for weeks, or months.

Fair enough, but CGI design trends can also become outdated - you just need to look at how flat design has taken over in the past 5-6 years as it's more web/social media friendly.

So I randomly found a test version of the BBC Website and on programmes pages it has an updated version of the navigation bar with the new blocks logo (https://www.test.bbc.co.uk/programmes)

I know a computer or phone screen has way more pixels than TV but on my mobile phone the logo looked very clear when extremely small. It does look odd though. I'm sure it's just a matter of time to get used to it.

My favourite page of the test site is the BBC Sport page where you can clearly see both the new logo and the good logo. I already had the view that the new one looked like some cheap knock-off or a poor-quality mock, but seeing them together like that on an actual BBC site really puts it into perspective - my opinion of it is now, somehow, even lower than it was five minutes ago.
I do hope that the rest of this rebrand isn't to the same 'similar, but worse' ethos, because I am not looking forward to this as it is.

Looking at the logo, I think the gap between the Squares, is equal to 1 Quarter of the Square's width.
So that SVG test site logo has 32px x 32px for each block, with 8px spacing between the 3 blocks.
