They may switch out some furniture but they're not going to be doing anything which can't be quickly reset. They're not going to want to damage a £4.6m property.
To be honest I think it is fine - had the show been on air even though they'd probably still have the "in emergency reset to 1992" button the look would likely have evolved over the years anyway and probably alternated between being bold and colourful and something more stylish, and I suspect something more along the lines of the Packed Lunch set may be where we're at anyway.
I also think there needs to be an honesty of this is what the house looks like now, and though I suspect they'll be able to do a tour I suspect they'll be limited in where they actually present from - probably that kitchen/living area, maybe the central living room (which is now half the size it was) and one of the bedrooms. If the weather is half decent I expect they'll utilise the garden more than the house.

They’ll definitely switch out the furniture (it’s common practice when a location is hired for a TV show) and I imagine accessories like curtains, wall hangings and flats will be used to colour the place up. They certainly won’t be using the whole house though - I imagine the Living Room and a Bedroom, plus the garden like you say. It would be a wasted opportunity not to use the garden and actually see the house as that’s the only part that is really still recognisable.

That’s awful news to hear, and my thoughts go out to his friends and family, I was surprised to see his birth year looking at that memorial, but I suppose my memories of his are of the BB from around 1998 onwards, with his many cameos and infectious laugh.

Packed Lunch has also been added to the slate a few hours later, with Spice Girl Mel B taking over hosting duties from Steph. So C4 will have live magazine shows at breakfast and lunch!

If I can force myself to get up early, I shall be heading down to Bow Locks to see if I can witness anything being recorded outside on the 10th, unless they don’t tidy up the picket fences I doubt spectators standing nearby will see anything in the front garden as the front of the house is currently hidden by big gates covered in ivy.

I don’t know. That’s a very tricky role to get right. Lots of pressure interacting with the public, in an unpredictable environment, live, and without the support of a big team around you. If it was coming back full time, by all means it’s a great role to let someone grow into and find their feet. But for a one off, you need someone who can jump straight in and just get on with it confidently. It also helps to have someone recognisable in that role so there’s at least a chance of recognition from random members of the public. Again, over time you could build up a new talent and they’d be recognised as “him off the Big Breakfast” but for a one off you just need the shortcuts and I think he’s a great addition to the team.
Shame there’s no “on the bed” host listed - I think one of the more established RuPaul Drag Queens like Bob the Drag Queen or Latrice Royale, or if we’re strictly British someone like Tayce from the last UK series could fit the bill nicely and hark back to Lily Savage. And that is potentially a role you could give someone less experienced as it was usually quite a straightforward and predictable interview with a celebrity who understand how things work, often even pre recorded, surrounded by the full team of support in the house.

Good point - and also good in a way that the talent is actually old enough to remember the show, something a 20-something newbie would not be. A good call for the On the Bed interview, but I guess understandable why they didn't bother considering it's just two hours long and of course that role was scrapped from a few months into the Johnny and Denise era onwards. Maybe had it run for three hours a third person in the house would have been worthwhile - though of course possible they may still add another face - indeed Melvin himself hasn't officially been announced yet. I suspect if they do it'll be in a Donna Air style phoneroom roll rather than for the On the Bed segment.
I'm still quite fascinated to know how all this came about and whether the idea of a one-off revival came before or after the idea for the Black Takeover Day as quite frankly they could have just used Sunday Brunch to provide live content in the morning if they just needed something to kick-off the day.
