UTV - This is UTV - 12-08-2021
This week's continuity for UTV Life was read word for word exactly what on the epg synopsis for tonight's ep. The announcer sounded bored and sounded like she was just going through the motions reading out what was on the epg in front of her. Don't announcers make any effort anymore to get us excited for the next programme!!? Reading word for word from the epg description is just the lazy easy option.
Got me thinking, maybe she was channeling her inner Julian, as he would read word for word what was on the epg before many programmes.

You just get the impression that providing UTV continuity is just a complete inconvenience for the London booth, hence the least amount of effort put into the scripts, and of course the frequent errors.
There is a very strong case for all UTV opt out continuity to be locally recorded and sent over to playout in London. If they can do it for the 6pm news, then it shouldn't be to much bother for all other local programmes.

Julian could be forgiven for it as that was just a 'quirk' of his regular 7pm links...

Another UTV continuity disaster!
Mahon's Way pronounced Mayearn's Way (or Mayon's Way).
Lack of due care and attention again.
Even more worrying/surprising, Kyle, the View from Storm Front guy, HAS got the pronunciation of Mahon right in previous weeks, but now it's Jason tonight's announcer making errors.

My biggest dispute with the London booth/ITV Continuity department is that they just don't seem to care about broadcasting error after error, week after week on pre-recorded Continuity.
UTV pre recorded announcements should be checked before being put out, to avoid these embarrassing and blatant obvious errors.
Julian & Gillian never had a problem pronouncing Mahon, never announced UTV Life as UTV Live or had any issues with the word Stormont.
Can someone from Wales/Border Scotland advise if you get the amount of errors that the UTV region has to put up with during your opt-out programmes? (I suspect these regions don't have the issues we have, but would like the evidence to back it up).

UTV brought on their own destruction by their totally ill conceived launch of UTV Ireland. A channel which was not wanted, not needed, and universally rejected by Irish viewers, who were used to ITV programming on TV3, and were not wanting a new channel.
UTV Ireland brought on UTV's financial collapse, and ITV plc saw this as an opportunity to snap up UTV for a reasonable bargain, and they did.
