Or did you mean something else?On iPlayer on desktop, the page would have had a specific background and side elements for each individual channel, such as a lot of red for BBC ONE, but they are now gone and the background stays grey/black, only the channel logo retains a slight bit of colour behind it when you hover your mouse.

While the scene starts out the same, there's nothing visually arresting about the way it then splits into four. The framing is terrible.
They look more like a "create a BBC Four ident" college project. Amateurish. Was hopeful they would evolve the concept with this rebrand, but looks to be more of the same.

I don’t think anything’s been confirmed yet, but it doesn’t sound as if there’ll be any changes to BBC News at this point beyond the BBC blocks being updated. The assumption seems to be a refresh of news will come at a later date.

I was beginning to think I was the only one. I really can't see how mis-sized logos split across either side of the ident constitutes a good design. It makes sense for the BBC part to be prominent in the era we're in but surely there's better ways of doing it? Just think how nice a live-rendered huge "BBC" transition wipe (a la football action replay) between the last trail into an ident would have looked, for example?
Those BBC Four idents appear to be like stock footage, zoomed out at different rates. As others have said, none of the subtle cleverness of old.
So Wednesday is essentially new trail/ECP designs and idents for BBC Four? I know I'm still trying to get used to the logo and will obviously reserve full judgement for Wednesday onwards, but I'm not wowed.

Additionally, the current BBC News look has been used since 2008 and almost unchanged aside from the logo being updated due to so iconic of that news intro. The only thing i hoped for BBC News and BBC Parliament when pan-BBC rebrand happens is the existing graphic packages being repositioned to full 16:9 instead of 4:3 safe zone.
Let wait to see a major redesigning of BBC News next year, which coincides with 100th anniversary of the BBC.

I think it was pointed out before that they can't use 16:9 graphics for the news as the channel is broadcast internationally and shares a package with World News which in some countries still goes out in 4:3 so it was easier to use the one package than having two different feeds with 2 sets of graphics running concurrently.

They may be in the 16:9 caption safe area rather than the fuller 16:9 action safe, but there are reasons why there are a difference - mainly to ensure that all captions are visible and can be seen on all devices/screens. They are certainly not in the 4:3 safe zone.
