Still, it's nice to have a firm date now. An evening launch does probably squander a late night send off the night before, maybe the cyclists cycling off in full for one last time?
I wonder if the PR team will spoil the surprise again a couple of days early? Mind you, if it's down for 7pm Friday, let's keep an eye on Yorks & Lincs at 6pm...Thursday

Nations were not happy as the idents did not represent each corner of the UK. As I said before, things look different depending on where you are. I suppose that is one positive with Oneness... these idents were shot and featured different areas of the country.

I never really understood the logic in tagging in locations on the Oneness idents - made a rod for their own back really.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure the average viewer will notice or even care about new idents or how they look - only Tv geeks like us! But I'm sure viewers would like to feel represented.

It's a shame they're not launching as part of new TV season or schedule revamp. The 1985 BBC1 COW globe has a special place in my heart as it coincided with a new BBC1 schedule, and the weather presentation changed that day too. It felt big!

Yorkshire has a history of jumping the gun with new idents. Probably worth keeping an eye on them at 1pm.

No, the Sonic Brand would mean a jingle or a melody. Like the BBC Two Chime, the Channel Four Fourscore, the ITV ambient music stuff
