You are right. BBC Scotland in fact joined BBC One just after 23:00, not switch to the News Channel. (On a technicality, I was of course right that BBC Scotland appeared to join the News Channel as it did *appear* to do so to me but in fact didn't actually.) Scotland & BBC One are together and flipper and prog id for the Papers from 23:08.

Bbc 1 and 2 are both showing live Sport tomorrow pm so that stops the coverage and nothing else will be happening by then that will be quite right

Doubt it. If they won't put an alternative out on 4, they sure as Hell won't on 3.

I remember the one where someone was concerned a clash between the FA Cup Final and Wimbledon, one on BBC One and the other on BBC Two might cause the BBC to run out of main channels if a major member of the Royal Family died on the same day. The answer was that, if that happened, Wimbledon wouldn't then be taking place so the whole issue wouldn't arise.

A bit of a messy throw to Sir Simon Schama there on BBC News. He obviously didn't realise he was on camera (down the line from New York) and was gesticulating madly to someone for some reason and looked a bit ticked off.
Incidentally, Sir Simon is in desperate need of a librarian to organise his bookcase. Probably the messiest heap of books and papers I have seen since the pandemic began!
