It's a shame Eamonn couldn't have had a bigger role today, before handing to the newsroom. Lucrezia was good, but Eamonn is more than capable to deliver such news and a more familiar face. (And he was already on air!)
But I guess the This Morning set was too informal and is a distance from the ITN centre.
He would have quickly had to find a black tie to put on.

BBC Two and Four could have gone back to normal programmes to offer a choice, considering the public pay for these.
I imagine that the BBC would rather be dammed by the press, politicians, and public for providing blanket coverage than being perceived to have given too little coverage and not respect to the Duke of Edinburgh.
Also heaven forbid the outcry if something within programme on BBC Two or Four this Edinburgh was deemed to be "in appropriate" by the press and public. Easier for them to resume revised programming from tomorrow once they can double check content and if needed potentiality even re-edit.

Would I be correct to assume the funeral will be televised on BBC1 and (possibly) ITV? I was about 11 months when the Queen Mother died and not too clued up on protocol here.

It's obviously a day of national and historic importance, so I can forgive the blanket coverage across the BBC as our national broadcaster.
That said, across the board I do find it a slightly jarring juxtaposition to have sombre newsreaders dressed in black talking about the death of a single man when they've been talking about 125,000 deaths over the past year. That's more a sign of the times though.

It's the way they divide up the bandwidth on the multiplexes to give different bitrates to different channels depending on their content. So a channel with less taxing content will get less of the bitrate, and one with more complex content gets more. It gets messed up if most of the channels are showing the same content though.

It's got to decide what channel needs more at a certain point (confetti, fast-action sports) etc... Meaning it'll lower the bitrate on another channel for as long as needed and once that demanding scene is done, give that the bitrate to the other channels (bare in mind that there's a minimum bitrate set that channels run)

I was a little surprised Two's coverage today wasn't signed. Was there a BSL interpreter on any other channels?

PBS aired the 7pm BST rolling coverage on its World News America slot.
Also, unlike normal times, BBC News at One today had a ticker on both BBC One and News but ticker did not appear on two channels. Is that because BBC One joined the News Channel feed instead of News TX1?

It’s just that there’s been 19 years between the two events so it won’t be fresh in peoples minds how the schedules were taken over the last time this happened.
