CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - mark - 13-09-2021 Mouseboy33 post_id=39532 time= user_id=1168 Wrote:I believe that Jane Pauley is actually on CSO/green screen set(possibly at home) since the pandemic. They havent shot her full-on the set in in a couple of years it seems. They have only used the 2 side shots for ages. Nay bother....its a brilliant programme and perfect for a Sunday. It just works. And the set is not used of for much anyway. Its literally just Jane Pauley introducing the packaged stories, there are no in studio sit down interviews or anything. Its not the ONE SHOW. Its way more high brow than that. Yep - it's an excellent programme. Very gentle and thoughtful, unlike a lot of news output. CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - Charles - 13-09-2021 In those studio and neighborhood introduction pieces that CBS Mornings ran, it almost looks like the TRL reboot set is still intact. I'd be very interested to see how that studio space is divided up. That second floor is fairly big, but not huge. At its height, MTV had three studio spaces on that floor — the Uptown Studio (the original TRL set, facing north, and the biggest), the Midtown Studio (occasionally used by MTV News,) and the Downtown Studio (used for Direct Effect, the smallest space.) After the original TRL ended and its replacement show flopped, the Uptown Studio space was converted into part of the Aeropostiale store below it, and now it's covered up by that giant electronic billboard. I wonder what's in that space now. If they could take the billboard off and restore it back to a windowed studio, it would be the best place for something, as it's the corner that doesn't face ABC. It seems weird to have a show there but not use the windows for anything (even for just the on-camera green room.) Here's a mostly complete TRL episode in high quality to give you an idea of the view that's covered up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tK44Jv09qKk CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - Mouseboy33 - 14-09-2021 I like to say that CBS Sunday Morning is like a tv version of reading the Sunday New York Times or New Yorker Magazine. Its cultured but accessible, entertaining without all the shouting and odd writing and fast pacing. Its very gentle without being boring. Perfect for a weekend morning. Was hoping CBS Mornings was going to morph into something like that, but im afraid it was never going to be. But its a delicate balance as most people dont sit down to watch the morning shows as many are getting ready for work and feeding their kids, etc. So thats probably why most morning shows are quite loud and therefore annoying. CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - mark - 14-09-2021 I know it's not a new feature, but I really liked the 'Note to Self' on this morning's show. This kind of thing feels much closer to Sunday Morning than regular breakfast TV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1OMY3JnVIw CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - Sky303 - 14-09-2021 CBS This Morning Saturday gets it's new name on well Saturday https://twitter.com/CBSMornings/status/1437781933937676288 CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - scottishtv - 14-09-2021 I hope I'm not going off topic too much referencing The Daily Show's presence in the ViacomCBS Times Square building now, but there's a few snippets of video here: https://twitter.com/TheDailyShow/status/1437430618351149059 And some stills from the first show of the new season. Looks like they are keeping the smaller, more intimate vibe of the lockdown shows. I guess the big studio audience, huge screens and skyline backdrop, fancy desk and shiny floor era is over for The Daily Show? Probably makes financial sense if the viewing numbers are doing okay. ![]() ![]()
CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - Victor - 14-09-2021 No studio audience? The Daily Show really seems like it is past its prime. It has lost viewers, relevance and now apparently budget. CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - VMPhil - 14-09-2021 That looks so dull. Surely the point of the previous Daily Show sets was parodying the bombastic US news sets, as the show is a parody of US news? CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - Medianext.MX - 18-09-2021 CBS Saturday Morning is finally on the air. They even managed to include a report on CBS' breakfast television history... https://youtu.be/cZE-Ojr1F_4 And, in other news, the first week's ratings are not encouraging... They lost 9% of viewers (down 8% from last year) and 3% in the demographic, with Today and GMA competing with no problem for first place, according to Adweek's TVNewser. The 90s!!? 1960s more like - and from that shot it looks like some sort of dire Christian Cable TV channel. Hideous. As for the trumpetty music for CBS Mornings (from what I've read this isn't a new thing for the Sunday morning show, am I right?) well it's terrible. To the extent that I just couldn't watch that ever. It's sooooo old fashioned and amateur. Really liking Nate Burleson from what I've seen of him though. That's the issue, it is a pointless rebrand - and a poor one at that. I think the music is the weakest point; it has no pace or urgency to it, it sounds like something from the 1800s mixed to a modern beat. The issues with the sound are demonstrated in their report on history of Saturday morning TV - the 2012 iteration of CBS This Morning is shown in the package and instantly sounds better than what preceded it. CBS This Morning relaunches as "CBS Mornings" - Brekkie - 18-09-2021 Is surprising really how much CBS struggle to get a foothold in both the morning and evening news markets considering in primetime they've been the number one network for quite some time I think, especially considering the longevity of 60 Minutes. I think they've been third in the evening news slot since the 90s after dominating with Walter Cronkite in the 60s and 70s, and the ever changing breakfast shows tell their own story. I think US viewers are quite loyal to their news providers and the success of cable news shows they're willing to change channels to get their information. |
