When did Wales Today start using a green screen studio with a podium during Breakfast?

Sounds like the main studio is out of action. Lunchtime came from that studio as well.

BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News - Newsroom - 13-12-2021

Only managed to grab this on my phone, but the opener was a live shot of the building from behind the station.

Presenter then walked to the studio to the right of him (curtained off).

BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News - RDJ - 13-12-2021

There was a mention at 6.30 that this will be the case all week this week whilst essential maintenance takes place in the normal studio.

they did the other day on the 6:30, they did it like bbc news at ten with a shot of the building

BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News - Ballyboy - 13-12-2021

The shot of the building at the start is a very nice feature. they should keep it permanently

I think the space they are using this week, and the studio even works far better than the main studio.

Here are some decent grabs.

BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News - Critique - 14-12-2021

Feels like this is an unpopular opinion on here but I don’t especially rate the atrium space that they keep using as a studio space.

It’s absolutely vast but also very empty - it’s only if they shoot from low down (like in the first cap further up the page) do you see the newsroom and offices on the levels above, otherwise it’s just some hulking great screens and some black/dark grey walls.

BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News - Brekkie - 14-12-2021

I don't know - it's so refreshing to see a presentation space with a bit of height now with so many newsrooms being in converted office space where even watching at home you feel you have to duck.

Yes, it's a bit vast for a regular news programme and not sure what I make of the fake printed newsroom backgrounds (though still better than some permanent efforts), but it's already proven it's worth as a flexible space which is getting regular use.

BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News - Jayesyn - 14-12-2021

For a temporary setup, I think that this set is quite decent. It does, however, have the vibe as if they're presenting on a stage in front of a live audience. The lines on the backdrop (in the main studio too) always remind me of these Japanese sliding doors for some reason.
As for the atrium being used for the bulletins, I think it's great. It looks absolutely stunning, even if it's a little dark. I think the lightboxes are nice, even though they aren't necessarily BBC news color. I would prefer the national news to have such a nice and large presenting area, rather than a regional programme.

BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News - Brekkie - 14-12-2021

As Huw himself would say it is the national news.

BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News - Ballyboy - 17-12-2021

Carl Edwards presenting the lunchtime news on BBC Wales Today. must be his first?
