Has Andy ever presented the main edition of the programme? I know he has done the odd short bulletin over the years, but nothing for a while I think. Mark Gough would probably be in with more of a shout, but again not presented as far as I’m aware for a fair while.

Steve Clamp or Wesley Smith would be my choices alongside Bob doing his usual days. They certainly have a good team right now with also Sameena and Yasmin as lead presenters. Charlotte also presenting more just recently.

Andy Bevan used to present the main edition of CNS from Abingdon, alongside Anne Dawson, back in the 1990’s.

Mark Gough did the main edition in the 2000s. with Joanne Malin at the time. but yeah Steve Clamp & Wes would be good

They've just said on the regional lunchtime news, that there'll be some kind of celebration of 40 years of Central on Central News tonight at 6.40pm. They briefly showed the launch of the 1st edition with Bob presenting. Can't imagine this will be anything more than a brief 3-4 minute clips package unfortunately.

It'll be no different to what they did at 25 years, a brief 30 second mention.

Well a very in detailed report on ATV winning back the franchise and having to rebrand and interviews with Bob Warman, Mike Prince and Wendy Nelson.

Lots of clips of Central News with mentions of the failure of the East Midlands opt to begin with.

Even ended with the Central cake!

Did anyone record it?

A shame ITV rarely, if ever, allow the English regions to opt out now. I'm sure they could have found half an hour to air a look back at Central.

Sadly doesn't look like the report is up online. Looks like they only put the full 30 minute editions up, so tonights bulletin isn't online.

Excellent report by Andy Bevan there. Great use of archive and idents!

I particularly like the part of Andy’s report where they simultaneously showed a West and East edition on screen at the same time both with different presenters. (Bob & Sameena and Yasmin & Matt) when he said that both the East and West still get bespoke editions today.

Ironically on the 40th anniversary of Central, on the other side we had a joint East and West Midlands broadcast from Birmingham. Nothing yet from Social Media and I missed the start but it was a full Midlands weather forecast at the end, so not sure if it was planned or last minute

It would have been nice to have a little mention of CNS. But hey it was a great package from Andy Bevan.

The new new NEW Central West and BBC Midlands Thread - Hatton Cross - 03-01-2022

But references to Central News South, would have been drifting off the point of that particular report.
It was the changing from ATV to Central, and the splitting of East and West TX areas.
CN South came later.
