Do they usually pre-record a couple of weeks of episodes in the summer?

Yes they did normally pre record the end of summer editions before Covid.
Yes, they could have covered Afghan well. But unfortunately it's just lame, generic topics of no substance. It's like watching GBN

We get it, you don't like Loose Women discussing non serious topics.

Non topical topics is the issue. They can get away with the odd pre-recorded episode mixed in with live editions but from what I saw of the beginning of todays show it was so obviously generic it really does stand out, but not helped by it being such a big news week, something you don't usually expect in August.

Having just tuned in for the Lunchtime News I see it's at 1pm this week so makes sense to have these episodes pre-recorded. I do think though when the news moves to 1pm they could surely steal 15 minutes from This Morning to give Loose Women a 45 minute slot.

Pre-recorded Loose Women episodes on Monday and yesterday were 1 hour. Today, tomorrow and Friday are 30 minutes. All of next week’s pre-record episodes are 1 hour.

I'm not sure it makes much difference on Loose Women as the socially distanced arrangement was quite natural, even if on two desks rather than one. I'd have thought making space for in studio guests would have been their greater priority, something this arrangement will continue to prevent them from having (at 1m distance).
