Probably self-evident by now but posting anyway as doesn't seem to have been, but BBC2 have simply pushed Unheard Tapes to 10pm and Newsnight to 11pm. Not sure it'll matter much in the end though, as many of UT's viewers will have likely not sat through half of Sherwood on the off-chance it would be shown and maybe gone to iPlayer instead. Though I don't know whether just delaying it to the same slot tomorrow night (showing a seemingly easily-droppable doc) would've been cleaner or worse...
EDIT: Doubly beaten to it! I must say, unusual for Newsnight to be shunted to make room for programming; was expecting half-hour filler or something. Then again, UT seems to be an important piece of programming for them, so deserves NN to be delayed more than when an episode of Mock the Week was dumped at 11:30pm early last year when Together ran the 9-10:30pm slot (albeit did get a quick repeat two days later)!

I did like those 2016 titles mainly for the music and on the first few days at the end of the day you got a nice long play out of the theme tune as well.

The title of this copy of the theme ("Purple and Green" by Tony Cox) says it was used in 1996-2015. Another seperate intro was used in 2015 before the 2016 version brought Purple and Green back going by the existance of this other YouTube video dated 201 (2016 also used used in 2017 from what I can see).

Few other tidbits to note, on court interviews now on four courts this year: Centre Court (Lee McKenzie), No.1 Court (Rishi Persad), No.2 Court (Karthi Gnanasegaram) and No.3 Court (Jenny Drummond).
Red Button continuity today was with Ben Cajee then Tom Gayle. Katie Shanahan and Jenny Drummond have been the other two names to do that role for the Olympics etc. over the last year, but with Jenny doing on-court interviews presumably another voice will appear later in the week.
I’m not a fan of the on court interviews now spreading to the first round. They are unnecessary and I find them a bit cringe.

It's very rare that any post match interview in any sport adds much. Indeed often in tennis you do get more out of them away from the court in the press conferences.
That said I get why they've added them on Centre and Court 1, but not sure they really add much on Court 2/3.
Back to the World Feed intros and that 2015 & 16 one feels so generic. At least the ones that follows feel like they've had a bit of effort put in - the new one is nice, just not as nice as the one before it.
As for the BBC originally they used Sporting Occassion which survived as the closing music long after it was dropped for the intro.
And for Wimbledon Match of the Day they used "Surf Rider", later used for Pulp Fiction.

Always a personal highlight to here A Sporting Occasion at 6pm on the first day. Also used at 10pm today. Great that a piece of music from a long-ago television past is still being used in some way.

I don't think that Beeb ever used Sporting Occasion as the opening theme. I remember the sleevenotes of the Great Sporting Experience mentioning Wimbledon having two themes, because Light and Tuneful, the opening theme, doesn't have a very interesting ending and Sporting Occasion doesn't have a very interesting beginning.

That's still used as the BBC intro, basically this from 2017 with a few players changed around (even the commentary bits over are the same for the sixth year in a row).

No. We were waiting for Sherwood last night. Had BBC 1 on, and brought up the live BBC 2 thumbnail in the SkyQ preview bar (nice feature BTW). The switch over to 2 for Sherwood caption only appeared at the moment the programme actually started on BBC 2. It was also tagged in the EPG as Today at Wimbledon, ending at 21:30. Mrs MM went off to make a cuppa, so I stuck it in live pause. I had expected the delayed playback to have crashed out when the EPG rolled over at 21:30, so I set a recording for the programme starting then.
In the end we carried on, on delayed playback to the end of Sherwood, but in this instance, (and knowing the final two eps were going to be during Wimbledon fortnight) , it might have been better to have made the whole series available in advance on iPlayer

I just find it baffling they treat thier flagship event in this manner, yet when the womens Euros start next week they don't think twice about moving the primetime news around to accomodate matches. I take it they're at least not interupting the matches on BBC2 to cover Centre Court live for half an hour before shunting it over to BBC1 when they finish chatting.
I must say as much as Sue leaving will be a loss and as much as I expect Clare will step up and be as like for like a replacement as you can get that the BBC coverage really does have a relevance problem now with most their pundits being people who played 30 or 40 years ago. Henman is still seemingly their most recent face and even he was peaking 20 years ago now. They really could do with some more recent retirees among their line up.
