Prince Philip has Died - Meridian MR - 09-04-2021 https://twitter.com/EamonnHolmes/status/1380625253458706438?s=19 It's a shame Eamonn couldn't have had a bigger role today, before handing to the newsroom. Lucrezia was good, but Eamonn is more than capable to deliver such news and a more familiar face. (And he was already on air!) But I guess the This Morning set was too informal and is a distance from the ITN centre. Tyne Tees used that one too, albeit with "ITV Tyne Tees 2021" at the bottom. Prince Philip has Died - WeArethelosers - 09-04-2021 Are ads back on all UKTV channels yet? Had the slide with the filler audio. Prince Philip has Died - dbl - 09-04-2021 WeArethelosers post_id=4914 time=1618002603 user_id=1345 Wrote:Are ads back on all UKTV channels yet? (no longer showing the obituary loop) It's been back since 6-7pm-ish. Business as usual, apart from changes to continuity or schedule that's deemed inappropriate Prince Philip has Died - London Lite - 09-04-2021 My mother called me to moan about the banner on Gold earlier, but was fine when it was removed when Keeping Up Appearances came on this afternoon. Prince Philip has Died - WeArethelosers - 09-04-2021 What are C5 doing at the moment? Prince Philip has Died - Larry the Loafer - 09-04-2021 Well the theory of BBC Four freeing up bandwidth must be out of the window if they can afford to broadcast the loop they're airing at the moment. I can understand BBC One going full obit (maybe not for as long as they plan to) but to take out Two, Four and News? Something isn't right. And as I type this they've reverted back to the grey slide on BBC Four. Prince Philip has Died - CameronYoung - 09-04-2021 ITV has fully gone back to its standard presentation including the lower thirds for News at Ten.
Prince Philip has Died - Universal_r - 09-04-2021 ITV’s Live bug and astons have gone back to normal. And as I type this they've reverted back to the grey slide on BBC Four. It wasn't about freeing up bandwidth, it was that the statmuxing would be messed up with too many channels simulcasting the same content. Prince Philip has Died - Universal_r - 09-04-2021 https://mobile.twitter.com/SimonMcCoyTV/status/1380630750849077248 Prince Philip has Died - ChipperBird - 09-04-2021 It was this way when Diana died too and that was even in spite of the fact that technically her royal status didn't really call for the networks to drop everything to report the car crash and her death (not that I'm saying they shouldn't have, just that technically they didn't have to go that level but I think they knew Diana mattered too much to the public to not follow protocol) All the major terrestrial networks then dropped everything for her death that day. As I recall, when it came time for the funeral - the networks worked out that BBC and ITV would carry the funeral, and Channel 4 that day got cartoons while the funeral was ongoing. I remember because I switched to cartoons only because I thought the funeral would be too sad to watch... (in my defense, I was 9) That and I somewhat agree that it's not easy to pad out an entire day over Prince Phillip. He's been mostly private for a long time, and I don't recall him talking to press much by time the 90's rolled around. But I can also understand that there's the potential for any programming today to potentially look awkward on the main channels, lest you have headlines tomorrow about people reading too much into whatever was cued up that day. |
