Never forget the ludicrous
"Sky Sports HQ.com HD" channel
No such thing. I think you confused Sky Sports.com TV and the later Sky Sports News HQ brand.

Please, please, please... can we stop with the fantasy name changes?

Thanks.

Agree. Focusing the aspect of rebranding is more necessary rather than hypothetical name change.

I think we were just having a bit of fun remembering some previous awful name changes. Big Grin

Back to the idea of them colour coding the logo and wonder if changing the BBC in the iPlayer logo from white to pink was the first stage of that. I imagine it they'd be some flexibility for each brand - probably to use their designated colour or white/black as appropriate. The little BBC2 clip we saw on that survey (I take it there has been no subsequent surverys?) were white on the ident but teal on the bumper.

I didn’t see the BBC Two survey. Was the logo just the same - stacked text - but with new blocks and in reith?

The point is, Netflix is just Netflix. It’s a totally different beast. If you just rebranded iPlayer ‘BBC’, you’re still going to have to qualify things as being on ‘BBC 1 and Catch up’ so you’re literally just changing the wording, to something less obvious. The iPlayer brand whatever people call it is synonymous with the BBC and it’s pretty obvious it’s a product of the BBC. And if a few people get confused and try to find last nights Corrie on iPlayer that’s not bad thing for the BBC!

(My bold)

Do you? Why? I would imagine at least half the BBC TV audience no longer watch on linear TV except for high profile series (Line Of Duty, Strictly...) and the news.

It would be a very bold move admittedly, but I don't think it would be the disaster everyone assumes it would be if everything was advertised as being on "BBC". Maybe you need a distinction between radio and TV, but maybe not. If everything TV can be found on the iPlayer, and more than half the audience use the iPlayer/Sounds to consume BBC content, what exactly is the issue? We might find in 10 years time that such a move was simply trendsetting and the idea of tuning in at a specific time to a specific branded channel is ludicrous.

Blocks at the top of the screen, TWO at the bottom in Reith. Both in white.

The trailer on my survey was for BBC Sounds. It began with the new BBC logo in orange in the centre of the screen. So I think it’s fair to assume there will be colour coding of the logo depending on which service is being promoted.

New BBC Logo - Rick - 29-08-2021

The BBC TWO ident in the survey started the same with BBC TWO in Reith stacked in the centre in white on a fully teal plain background then the BBC animated to the top of the screen and the two moved to centre bottom of the screen as the background faded into the actual 2 curve and the ident started. Whether that was just for the survey or if that's how the idents start now I'm not sure...

Please can you explain this BBC survey and where I can find it?

Look back a couple of pages on this thread. It was on a mixed survey webpage and there was no guarantee that your be offered the BBC's survey.

Is it also possible that BBC programming could be tagged with "BBC Original", "BBC Exclusive" (for acquired programming - mainly US-exported programming), or "BBC Presents"? Here's an example of the latter: "BBC Presents the RHS Chelsea Flower Show"

Also, could content produced by BBC Studios also include tags like "A BBC Studios Production" or something?

"BBC Presents" reminds me of 1950s to 1980s programmes, where a programme will begin with "BBC TV Presents" or "BBC Television presents" (in case of Grandstand prior to BBC Sport branding in 1988).
