I came here to say the exact same thing! I still casually call it 4OD quite often. That was an unneeded rebrand which has never really caught on, even if it is a much better name for the service.

And ironically the way they've set up their Paralympic coverage means that All4 isn't the place where you can get all of it.
I don't know how we got from Doctor Who launching the end of October to all BBC channels and the iPlayer being rebranded, but it's glorious! FWIW I suspect with it being a wider rebrand of the BBC it'll probably end up happening one random morning than around a flagship show.

You have BBC Sounds which has its radio stations plus a range of podcasts and playlists and is quite a good service.
With BBC vision you would have the same, tv channels, catch up, short videos so outside source segments, Brexitcast, information vids that type of thing.
I kinda like that idea.

I really dislike the name "BBC iPlayer".
Being a mighty six syllables long, it is of course more than most people can be bothered to say (OMG, people are so verbally lazy, LOL!). Hence the "BBC" bit becoming expendible, and people just calling it "iPlayer" to halve the syllables.
Which particular broadcaster's catch-up/VoD service is that, then?! There are probably people in this world who think that "iPlayer" just means catch-up/VoD services generally, rather than specifically Auntie Beeb's one.
Having only a single syllable beyond the broadcaster name, compels the broadcaster name to be said. There's no danger of ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5's services being referred to as literally just "Hub", "All", and "My" respectively. I'll wager that at least part of the reason why these were all renamed (from previous names which were at least one syllable longer than the current names) was so as to make the ITV/4/5 bit "non-expendible".
If I were in charge, I would rename BBC iPlayer to a four-syllable limit. The possibilities are endless: BBC Go/Play/Plus/Now... (whatever).
Sadly, I'm sure that any such renaming is about as likely as an Elvis Presley comeback tour.

I actually think + sounds just as dated as “i” - it’s in the realms of noughties’ “Extra”.
All4 / 4OD is the perfect example of why changing a brand name can be more detrimental, and the BBC should be weary of changing the established iPlayer.
BBC Vision sounds like an 80s VHS. Please no.

It's rather akin to the overuse of "@" symbols on various non-internet things (such as posters and shop signs), during the early years of the internet.
When the BBC Midlands region's Sunday lunchtime BBC Two politics programme restyled its name from "The Midlands at Westminster" to "Midlands@Westminster", I would've been quite happy if planet Earth had exploded.

There's absolutely no chance they'll want to rename a brand as successful as iPlayer.
I take his point though. It's a better name. Sticking i in front of everything which is to do with the internet is so old now.

"Top Of The Pops" would have sounded dated for a new show in 1975, let alone 1995! To be honest it was probably starting to sound a bit dated even in 1964! But of course it was a well established brand by then.

Even before then it was called "Skysports.com TV", though that was pre HD so at least didn't have that bit attatched to it as well.
