Obviously it (and the 4 seater version used in the euros) was built with social distancing in mind, and they complemented the virtual backdrop very nicely, but I don't see how it would work post-social-distancing. Either the 3 of them will be permanently 2m apart, they will be closer together surrounding an oversized desk (and the monitors under the desk would have to move), or a slightly smaller desk would have to be built for next season.

BT have a game from the UEFA Europa Conference League pencilled in for Thursday night but no elaboration on what game it’s meant to be. I presume that like the Europa League itself, the play off round isn’t part of the centralised TV rights deal?

Indeed - no centralised rights for UEL and UECL until the group stages. Premier Sports has confirmed they have LASK v St Johnstone on the same night - https://twitter.com/PremierSportsTV/status/1427296644635185161
One assumes that BT's intention is to air Paços de Ferreira v Spurs... as I'm not sure why they would be bothering to show a third-tier qualifier otherwise. Probably a small bidding war for that match though.

Must be. Incidentally Flora v Shamrock Rovers has been picked up by VMTV, the first time an Irish side in Europe has made it on to actual tv this season (there has been paid streaming for previous games). RTE will show the return leg.

No. Last I heard, a deal with BBC NI, for coverage of Ulster’s home games, was as good as done, and the Premier Sports deal seemed structured to facilitate that and also a Welsh deal (which was to be with S4C rather than BBC Wales). But that was early June, and I’m not sure what has delayed wrapping up the remaining tv rights deals, nor the much mooted OTT streaming service which was also to be part of the arrangements. Still just over a month till the season begins again, so plenty of time left for announcements I guess.

That article also notes that (surprise, surprise) there's been serious problems finalising a fixture list, mainly due to South Africa being a red list country for entry into the UK. The plan seems to be for the South African teams to play their away fixtures in blocks starting in the Republic of Ireland or Italy before playing in Wales, Scotland or NI. The fixture list apparently should be out this week (as of last week) with the large group of broadcasters that need to be negotiatied with also an issue.

Some musings on Sky Sports' innaugral weekend covering the Bundesliga...
First up, coverage is obviously and noticeably less than what BT Sport offered. Of the four matches outside the blackout window, only two were shown on linear channels (Friday 19:30 (featuring Bayern) and Saturday 17:30 (featuring Dortmund)). The two Sunday matches were available via the Sky Sports App and website only, despite Sky Sports Football channel only showing EFL highlights all afternoon - a really bizzare situation. World feed commentary was used on all four matches too, unlike BT Sport previously using their own comms on matches that were on linear channels. The pros of this situation is that the world feed comms are quite good IMO, they cover the league week-in-week-out with some commentaries coming from the stadium rather than off-tube which is an improvement. Also, the Sunday matches were available for free without a Sky Sports subscprition, albeit hard to find (I missed the first goal of the 16:30 KO trying to find it, ultimately finding a link on social media). The original press release said that some matches will also be on YouTube, which would be a significant improvement on hiding the matches on the app only.
The other reduction compared with last season is there is no legal way to watch 2. Bundesliga in the UK and Ireland as of yet, despite big name teams like Hamburg and Schalke playing in that league and at least one match a round was covered last season on BT Sport. The 3. Liga (on German Football YouTube) and fourth tier Regionaliga (on OneFootball) are available to legally watch though...
YouTube highlights remain at the same coverage of last season. The Sky Sports Football YouTube channel has c.5 mins edits of both Bayern and Dortmund matches like BT would with nothing else apart from a goal compliation sourced from the official league YouTube there. The Bundesliga's YouTube had a minute long package of each match rather swiftly after the conclusion of the match and two minute reports available from 22:00 UK on Sunday as was the case last season.
Finally, overall I like the new graphics (prefer the old ones but here we are), but there will be occasions like below where on a quick first glance a team in red plays a team also in red - a little confusing potentially. Also, I wonder if some German three letter codes won't be that easy to understand for the non-initiated. SGE, BSC and VFB for example don't exactly easily explain Eintracht Frankfurt, Hertha Berlin and Stuttgart.
