*Wikipedia says Forest is "thought" to have been filmed in the Brecon Beacons but it's so generic it could be literally anywhere.

“Other idents” as in additional ones added to the set to better represent the regions (an embarrassing oversight) or canning those already filmed and back to the drawing board to come up with a completely new concept (a monumental waste of licence payers’ money)? Personally, I’m staggered that: a) whoever commissioned these new idents thought that filming them so obviously in and around London would cut it for the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation (when the brief had specifically stated they were to represent the whole nation); and b) the BBC’s review process/governance is such that they were allowed to get so close to launch before someone senior saw them and veto’d them. Surely for a corporation-wide rebrand as monumentally important as this all elements of the rebrand across all channels and touch points would have been reviewed, tweaked, reviewed, consulted upon again at multiple points (at all levels of the organisation) well in advance of sign-off of the complete package?!

I also don't get why they'd want Oneness, which hardly highlights the nations, a second longer than they have to. BBC Wales even slagged them off on their first outing. Off the top of my head only Bog Snorkeling and possibly Mountain Rescue are in Wales anyhow - can't think of any in Scotland or NI.
Off the top of my head, Scotland had the Cavers ident and the Glencoe campers. Northern Ireland has the hikers, the Llamas, the Canoeists and the tandem cyclists. Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire and all the counties within the vicinity, an area bigger than Wales, and Northern Ireland, had no oneness idents to represent them at all.
The area surrounding London is fully representative of the people of the UK because I doubt that all the people in the idents were all white English people, nor should they be. I would assume they recruited people from all the nations and of genders and abilities to be in the idents, so I'm still not buying the "location centric" argument. It makes no sense at all. I also would have assumed that the nations were aware of these new idents and that they were being filmed. Should they not have said at the time that they were unhappy? I would think they had a while to request representation?

It just seems indicative of the internal politics and the way the BBC operates that the Nations could veto the idents at the eleventh hour.
Disappointing really that this exercise is going to be done piecemeal.

From the descriptions, I’m struggling to understand how any of the filmed idents could be deemed to be ‘London-centric’. Especially farm and sky, which famously exist outside London.

They would have seen the briefing surely? Plus, the people of the UK represent the UK. I bet there were people from the whole of the UK in the idents, so if there were Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish in the idents, then that means everyone in the UK were represented.

Can everyone please just stop with the constant bickering on here. The BBC is rebranding - get over it. The Oneness idents are staying for a wee bit longer - so what.
The new idents didn't represent the whole UK - Filming idents in and around London is not representing the whole UK.
Nations weren't actually involved in new idents and didn't see them until recently... not a good move clearly.
Things are changing, some may not like it but tuff. It's happening.
I'm not commenting anymore on the new look and not giving anymore information.

Sorry to have given the impression that we were bickering with you, that was not my intention at all. I for one have been grateful to you for all you say, and I appreciate your frustration. I think the gist of the comments tonight come not from your good intentions and kindness, but more about how the BBC operates these days. That is what has caused the frustration tonight, especially as we all pay for the BBC to run itself professionally.
Of course people will never agree or see things in a unifying way, but that is by no means a reflection on you. Will be interesting to see the on screen changes next week regardless.

But isn't that the point? I don't ever think "oh where is he from/she from etc" I just assume that people in British idents are British. Surely that is enough isn't it? Do people really watch idents and think that it's disgraceful because there aren't any people from XYZ in it? Turn your question around. How do you know that there aren't people from all nations on the idents? I personally think far too much political thinking is going on and that's one reason why over the past few years I've become disappointed in the BBC in a way I wouldn't have done in the past.
