Just seen a billboard advertising a new programme coming to BBC One. Interestingly the sign only had the BBC logo (in red) with no written mention of which channel it would be on.
This would point to the BBC opting just to use the master brand come the rebrand this autumn.

TBH, thinking that they should just use the BBC logo (except where differentiation is necessary) is something I've thought they should do for a few years now. Whether stripped or boxed or something else, there are very few BBC brand logos that have ever sat right and the current BBC logo has always looked best on its own.

They've always just used the master BBC brand in advertising for ages now, this isn't new. Although, now it seems they're promoting the "iPlayer" more instead of specific channel brands.

Do you take a photograph of the billboard & did you see the name of the new programme on it?
Also; what are your first thoughts of seeing the billboard? Did the design look good or better than having the dreaded Oneness idents?
I could make the assumption here that if these billboards are advertising for a new BBC One network programme; it might be seen across various parts of the UK or maybe not if it was promoting a regional programme for the South East if that is your own area.

It is, although since 2002, BBC One has traditionally used red as the main colour for its boxed logo. Heck, even the BBC One balloon before then predominantly used red for the seas as part of that iteration of the globe, alongside orange for the continents.

Yeah, it's actually News that stole One's colour, as One has used red since 1997, and News only adopted the colour in 1999, previously using blue. News used to be a darker shade of red though, until they Reithed the logo.

It was for 'VIGIL' a national programme from the makers of line of duty.
It looked fine, although some of the text everything was aligned oddly.

1997 Logo. I assumed the same with the colouring much like the BBC News beta app shows.
