New BBC Logo - DTV - 20-08-2021 BBC Media Centre now has an article on the new BBC News app - including some screenshots of the new look. I'm all for minimalism, but it does look somewhat bare. https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/articles/2021/rebuilding-the-bbc-news-app New BBC Logo - EeveeSparkles - 20-08-2021 Rick post_id=35161 time= user_id=1009 Wrote:Same here! ^_^ Maybe they could do something with the globe symbol, which hasn’t been seen since at least 2002, or maybe introduce a mascot character.Adsales101 post_id=35137 time= user_id=1759 Wrote:Stop being teases! I can't wait to see what BBC ONE will look like soon. I hope it doesn't involve live action idents or anything to do with "people" and that it has a symbol or logo like BBC TWO does.DeMarkay post_id=35090 time= user_id=1013 Wrote:As others have said, Oneness is being replaced and it’s replacement is stunning. New BBC Logo - tomatoesaway - 21-08-2021 ![]() new BBC logo incoming 1!1!1!!! New BBC Logo - Lyric W. - 21-08-2021 In all seriousness, it's interesting to catch a profile picture change in action like that New BBC Logo - JAS84 - 21-08-2021 That's odd. You don't need to delete the old profile picture before uploading a new one - it just overwrites it anyway. So a situation where the pic is missing and Youtube uses the default profile name initial shouldn't happen, unless the account has never had a profile picture, which obviously isn't the case here. New BBC Logo - Spencer - 21-08-2021 Prospero&Ariel post_id=35199 time= user_id=2082' Wrote:Yea it's important to see this 'strategy'...not a refresh or a rebrand apparently...as a bit of a 'app-ification' of the BBC and how it's portrayed to the outside world. There's a few core bits to it but centrally it's about the BBC recognising that it needs to exist in a busy marketplace as: 'the BBC'. The example of a tube poster that promotes a BBC Three show as being 'on BBC One and BBC iPlayer' is an example of exactly what the strategy is all about. That’s a really interesting insight - thanks for sharing. This backs up the impression that I got from the material shared in the Swagbucks survey that the BBC brand is very much going to take centre stage in future. One thought which crossed my mind is whether DOGs might be introduced on BBC One and Two. I know such a move might be unpopular with many members here, but in an era when the BBC is having to justify the licence fee like never before, I could certainly see the value in using DOGs to reinforce the fact that people are watching the BBC. Given the forthcoming focus on the BBC core brand, I could even see them just adding the BBC logo to the top left, as currently on iPlayer content, rather than channel identifiers. New BBC Logo - Rick - 22-08-2021 But their DOGs are a mess, you only have to look at the BBC THREE strand on BBC ONE, some regions don't use a logo, some use a huge logo and others use a more sensible loog, but they all have them at different places on screen. There is zero consistency. If they do introduce DOGs then the current BBC FOUR DOG should be the template, it's small, tucked into the corner and set to a nice transparency so it isn't distracting. Compare that to the horrors we have had previously for BBC THREE, it's like comparing a whisper to someone screaming through a megaphone. If DOGs are ever introduced for ONE and TWO, it would be great if they followed the Sky example, of only appearing at the start of a programme and then eventually fading out, so they get to show their brand on screen and it will catch peoples eyes, but then it goes away and leaves us to enjoy the rest of the show unblemished. I'm not sure what the purpose of that would be, seeing as the channel name will already have just appeared on screen immediately before the start of the programme - on the ident. DOGs might not help much with that, but a quick ident before a show is hardly a silver bullet. New BBC Logo - JAS84 - 22-08-2021 Considering ITV and Channel 4 both have a DOG, I'd say Joe's post proves your point. People shouldn't get ITV and 4 mixed up because their logos are on screen throughout their programmes, and yet apparently they do. New BBC Logo - Joe - 22-08-2021 I was really making the point that, for all we obsess over the bits in between the programmes here, there is a limit to their efficacy.
