Not sure I agree with just yanking BBC Four off air entirely. I'd have used it as an "alternative" to cater for those license fee payers who need a distraction, particularly in depressing enough times already. A mashup of the planned BBC One and Two schedules could have gone there, for example.
Same with ITV2, the soaps and some other stuff could have gone out there. Even Diana didn't get Corrie pulled (being in the era of the Sunday episode) and Emmerdale still went on on 9/11, which both had "developing" aspects to their stories unlike the sad passing of a very old gentleman who's been poorly for a while.

Crikey, that's eerie. Never heard it before.
I'll have to keep an eye out if any regions or the bulletins use it. Considering how upbeat the usual titles are (and also the fact Midlands Today has people dancing in it, which makes me chuckle) I'd say it's quite likely.

I see that the Wales vs Canada women’s football friendly is on iPlayer. Was it supposed to be on TV before the Duke of Edinburgh’s death was announced? Just watching the NI vs Ukraine qualifying match on the Red Button and they’ve just put up a scrolling banner at the top of the screen saying they will shortly be switching to the Wales match.

I'll start off by sending my condolences to the Queen, and all the royal family at this sad time.
I know I'm jumping in late with this point (the news broke as I was arriving at work), but the announcement on BBC Radio all seems a bit unexpected. I understand that the news might have come through quite suddenly (given how every broadcaster was caught slightly on the back foot), but it seems that Global and Bauer all managed to make the switch over to the news much more seamless. Listening back, even Newstalk ZB in New Zealand seemed to do a better job.

Having Mary at Buckingham Palace obviously helped with the transition in the studio as sofas have been brought in.
