I don't see why there should be a problem with simply doing to UTV what ITV has done to all other regions, excluding Scotland of course.
In terms of what to call the region, a very simple ITV NI would suffice. In terms of a new name for their regional news, remember BBC One Northern Ireland went down a non distinct path in February 1996 when they came up with "Newsline" - I am sure ITV News could find a new name if they wanted.
ITV UTV just seems the worst compromise they have now - feels like two TV stations in one.

The Hub does not show View from Stormont, UTV Life, Up Close, Rare Breed, Face to Face with Eamonn Mallie, etc
So all these will get 1 showing only on the main UTV channel and thats it!

You must have mis-understood my post.
Regional programmes like Rare Breed, UTV Life, View from... etc etc do only get 1 showing on the main UTV channel. Non of these have a repeat at a different time later in the week!
The new break bumper popping up randomly is a bit odd - it's like UTV is the brand that refuses to die. It would look better though if they used the ITV logo rather than just had it in text, and I do think in the short to medium term at least there is no harm in having UTV exist as a brand on ITV around their programming and news - it's no different to the days when CITV or ITN was a brand on the ITV network.

What? The duel regional/ITV branding or the local announcers saying goodbye?
We've sort of had Gillian signing off with her April 2020 "We're handing over to ITV" announcement.....Julian just disappeared no final out of vision announcement or anything.
As for idents with duel branding, I would say no to that. It's either UTV branding, or 'Full Fat' ITV branding, this current mess on air with half way house branding on local UTV promos, and UTV branded programmes like UTV LIFE/UTV LIVE/UTV Up Close is not long term sustainable.
Personally I think the best thing for UTV is the way it was done from October 2016-April 2020, branding wise, the channel was obviously owned and part of the ITV family, but still had a distinctive UTV local presence.

And then two years later UTV Media plc is dissolved and ITV plc takes over the operation. All regional programmes are phased out barring the odd politics programme once a month. UTV is referenced during the regional news only with all other references to the brand gone.

Just watching UTV tonight and finding the ad breaks a bit strange.
Maybe I haven’t noticed recently, however, a lot of adverts are mainland U.K. appropriate.
For example there was and advert for Eon energy which isn’t available in Northern Ireland. Another was a Sainsbury’s advert about Aldi price match - small print not in NI.
I think when playout was still in Havelock House there were more programme promo/trailers which must have filled these, but with ITV playout I take it fillers are just the ads going out on the rest of the network?

A few years ago, when UTV playout was still from Belfast, we had an entire "Christmas on UTV, sponsored by..." a furniture company that didn't have any branches in Northern Ireland and didn't deliver to Northern Ireland. This kind of thing has been happening for years. The old "Not available in Northern Ireland" disclaimer has sat at the bottom of thousands of ads over the decades.

In the 1990s in particular advertising from the South was big business for UTV. It (and Channel 4) were the only competitors for advertising from RTE until TV3 came along (and to a lesser extent TG4). It was the second most watched channel in the Republic of Ireland, with a much bigger market share than RTE2. Played a huge part of the rationale for changing Ulster Television to UTV. Even in the early 2000s there was a UTV ident featuring Dublin!
It’s not so big a business now, for UTV anyway. (Channel 4 on the other hand now has a separate ROI advertising region!). Viewership for UTV in the South collapsed when TV3 started carrying most prime time ITV network programming. That was the catalyst for the failed experiment that was UTV Ireland - an attempt to recapture that market. Unfortunately it backfired and basically ended ITV as an mass advertising player in ROI. There are about 30 U.K. channels which have dedicated Irish advertising now, but ITV isn’t - and for regulatory reasons can’t be - among them.

Just seen this weeks UTV Life promo (still in the old branding style!?!)...but anyway the shock came at the end when Aunty Pammie said "UTV Life, this Thursday at twenty past eleven" :o
What an ungodly time slot for a magazine programme!
I know UTV Life has been dumped after the news at 10:45pm in the past, but this Thursday must be the latest timeslot for it!
They always make a promo for UTV Life, Whatever next! "Join me for UTV Life, this week at 3am". :lol:
I bet Pammie was so embarrassed recording this week's promo and announcing "twenty past eleven"!
Looking at Thursdays schedule, Emmerdale at 7pm should have been dumped and replaced with UTV Life just for this week. Border Scotland have done the same in the past and shown Border Life the other week at 7pm with Emmerdale our of peak and after the news. ITV should treat UTV the same.

Here in UTV-land we have just come out of Emmerdale with a Britbox Promo then a 'Coming Next' graphic and voiceover saying next is The Greek Islands with Julia Bradbury. The ITV ident and continuity now says now UTV Life with Pamela Ballentine.
Another mistake by ITV continuity this evening. Not taking UTV in to consideration again!

Yes The Greek Islands is on at 10.45 tonight on UTV, or you can catch on +1 at 9.30 tonight as its the Granada service we get now.
