Possibly the nicest bit of design BBC News has had this century.

How this was never rolled out across News is beyond me - it still looks really elegant. I love the simplicity of the endcap for the News titles.

Moving back to the new logo - I've become a fan, actually. I think when you see it on paper, it definitely looks like a downgrade from what we have currently, most likely just because we're so used to it. But when animating, this new logo comes alive - I love the way it bounces around. It's definitely more 'accessible' for younger audiences, and does away with the old-fashioned view of the BBC being stuffy and boring.

The icons are exciting too. I also did the survey and found myself being surprised at how radical this is going to be, if it does indeed roll out. I like the iPlayer, Sounds and Weather icon, as well as the Bitesize one. They all seem fairly understandable. News and Sport is a little harder to grasp as they just don't scream 'NEWS' or 'SPORT'. However, there's help with the colour coding system (red = news, yellow = sport, pink = iPlayer, etc) which I think will help. And I imagine the icon will always be seen ALONGSIDE the BBC logo?

Very exciting!

Find myself 100% agreeing with you. Nailed it.

Can. Not. Wait.

I believe this comes from the television executive train of thought that people can only possibly watch programmes that have been relentlessly and obviously targeted to their specific demographic. It's the train of thought that has led to a constantly expanding graveyard of 'youth' entertainment formats and which effectively amounts to cargo cult commissioning.

Branding has always been used to target different audiences and often rebrands coincide with trying to better target a specific audience. Whilst I wouldn't necessarily say this branding was "younger" it was certainly more dynamic and simply better and perhaps just as often having a new service closely linked to the overall BBC News brand can be beneficial it can also sometimes be beneficial to distance from it if trying to do things differently or capture a different audience.

I see, thank you for this explanation Brekkie, very appreciated!

You nailed it DTV, I never fully understood this reasoning, even though I am looking forward to the return of BBC Three, it does not mean that I don't ever watch BBC Four

Take Off with Bradley And Holly had a look at what the BBC One logo will look like I believe, albeit with the old corporate logo.

Is there a screen grab available? Or possibly a rough iPlayer timestamp?

He already posted one. :?

New BBC Logo - Rick - 24-07-2021

I'm going to assume that's a hastily made mock up rather than what the new logo will be. Absolutely nothing about it would indicate its the new logo. Why is the One not in Reith then and why edit the image to remove the new BBC logo to replace it with the old one? Someone mocked this up in 10 seconds instead of quickly grabbing a template file from whatever file server is in place for graphics. Which in itself is sad, but that's another thread...

Exactly - and Take Off has been sat on the shelf for 18 months as it was filmed pre-pandemic.

I can confirm that the logo is NOT the new branding for BBC One... thankfully!

New BBC Logo - Robinho02 - 24-07-2021

I’ve noticed that new BBC podcasts released recently have the BBC logo top centre. Someone earlier mentioned the BBC Two ident shown on the survey had the BBC logo top centre. And the BBC News beta app has the BBC logo top centre (without ‘News’).

A theme? BBC logo at top centre for everything?

I believe BBC logo at top centre can be implemented in promo graphics if it aired on television.

So the series was filmed at the same time as the Christmas special that launched the show in 2019?
