I'm sure there'll be people who specifically switch on for the "Marr/Raworth" BBC One slot, having watched little or none of the immediately preceding programme (which, for significant chunks of the years, is MOTD rather than the latter end of Breakfast anyway!).
Given the news-based (current affairs?) agenda of the "Marr/Raworth" programme, having a quick round-up the latest... erm... actual news at the top of the programme seems like a perfectly sensible context-setter to me.

Yes, it sets the context.
Presumably the presenter disappears so they can rehearse, although considering it’s about one minute long and consists of just some basic reads, it’s debatable how much rehearsal they need.
Might there be a technical reason to prevent them changing from a programme in its own right to an insert within another programme within about 2 minutes, hence why they do it from a different studio?

Surely though it is basically a rehash of the headlines from half an hour earlier on Breakfast.
I assume the North West edition of the Sunday Politics (or whatever it is called nowadays) is usually pre-recorded rather than done live afterwards (though I think Annabel does that now rather than Roger).

I think all the English Sunday regional politicals are pre-recorded, unless something has changed in recent years. As far as I remember, only the nations have ever broadcast live.

To be fair, that seems like one of the Express' more measured articles. I can completely imagine how it would feel if you'd gone for the job, and pictures of presenter line-ups were already being changed.

Did anyone else see that hand-back from an OB at 08:23? Nana and Charlie very persistently pressuring a (quite muscly) reporter to take his top off and get in the water. Really felt awkward and like it crossed a line. Can imagine the uproar if that was a female reporter.

Not just HARDtalk but most recorded programmes on News/World News, since the graphics change which meant the lower thirds were integrated with the logo and ticker/clock so only work properly when done live. There are plently of exceptions that do their own thing, but this is the template that is often used.
