The Sport Thread - HTV Best - 12-07-2021 Fair play to BBC sport calling out the racism between most programming on tonight. The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 12-07-2021 Just saddening it even has to happen. The Sport Thread - Ste - 12-07-2021 Some of the presentation/graphics (and world feed commentary) used on the CONCACAF Gold Cup which started over the weekend: https://vimeo.com/574199087 Premier Sports are showing it in the UK. The Sport Thread - TMD_24 - 13-07-2021 It looks like for one weekend only that Channel 4 will be showing live coverage of both races of the London ePrix weekend. https://www.tvguide.co.uk/titlesearch.asp?title=Live+Formula+E The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 13-07-2021 It's no wonder Formula E are now looking for more exclusivity moving forward. Pretty much everyone has covered them and I think C4 will complete the terrestrial set as I think along with the BBC and ITV that C5 did cover it at one point. https://motorsportbroadcasting.com/2021/07/10/formula-e-looking-for-channel-consistency-and-audience-consolidation-in-future-tv-deals/ The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 14-07-2021 Interesting to read that NBC/Golf Channel will be using the world feed pictures for their coverage of The Open Championship this week, rather than using their own feed. I'm a bit surprised in a way they do their own usually as I can't think of hearing any UK broadcaster doing the same for any event (but less of surprise with NBC/American coverage being different I guess). Also interesting to note that they have reduced their prescence at Royal St George's from 250 to 24 which is quite remarkable; I guess partnering with Sky Sports will reduce that number to an extent even if there wasn't a pandmeic but I'm taken aback by how much they've been able to reduce that number. https://awfulannouncing.com/golf/nbc-will-use-the-world-feed-for-the-british-open-which-might-not-be-a-bad-thing.html The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 15-07-2021 Few points of note having watched the Lions coverage today First, quite a nice use of technology to put Will Greenwood and Bryan Habana next to each other in the post-match analysis despite being in London and Cape Town - it looks quite seemless on screen. The screen was also in London with Will touching it for analysis and I noticed that Bryan's hands went behind the screen at one point. https://twitter.com/Flan8/status/1415411789605519360 Secondly, the virtual advertisments in the stands are not the greatest. As can be seen in the clip below, the ball vanishes inside them semi-reguarly. Apparently in the first match of the tour, lineouts were also vanishing behind them so they have improved since then but still not that great. https://twitter.com/SkySportsRugby/status/1415382770214481920 Finally, I've got to say it has been a great addition to the S4C coverage to have Bryan Haban to offer his opinions. Due to the language barrier, opposition pundits are quite rare on S4C coverage so to hear from him has been quite informative and enjoyable. The same can be said of using English speaking pundits, such as Sir Ian McGeechan tonight, joining virtually to add another element to the analysis. Bryan's attempts to speak Welsh are also really comendable and are a definite highlight of the covearge! https://twitter.com/Sarraelgan/status/1414835695273791490 https://twitter.com/NationCymru/status/1414957177492680706 The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 15-07-2021 It does seem to be very much a joint effort between Sky, C4 and S4C. All sharing elements of the presentation. Talking of virtual appearances the BBC did tease the use of holograms to place interviewees in the studio during Euro 2020 coverage but I don't think it ever happened. The Sport Thread - Rdd - 15-07-2021 Might be blantantly obvious but what is the “Sky O” being promoted on mics and displays at The Open today? Least Rishi will be more than capable cover, guess he can easily combine presenting with interviews he was doing yet. Hope Eilidh and her contacts are okay. The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 16-07-2021 Guessing the F1 bubble must have a mask mandate for hosts and guests as Lee McKenzie and guests are masked up presenting at Silverstone despite there being a full crowd seemingly without restrictions as a test event. |
