I feel like if they had a bit of muted color underneath the logo, it *might* have worked...

BBC Two will stick with BBC One for the rest of the evening, there'll be some tribute programmes and documentaries as well as extended news coverage. Exceptions being when the regional news is on BBC One and when Newsnight is on BBC Two.

BBC Four suspended tonight, as per the plans that have been in place for some time.

Thought Martine Croxall was excellent as was the interruption on BBC One - that moment long-rehearsed but as we've seen before, it can go wrong.

"In light of today's news, we've decided to permanently close down BBC Four as a tribute to Prince Philip"
Gosh, I was only making a joke, but looking at the iPlayer schedule it actually does say BBC Four is suspended. Is that just the default text in case the news broke in the evening when BBC Four is on air?

"Programmes on BBC 4 have been suspended. Please switch to BBC One for a major news report."

The other BBC schedule site is just blank: https://www.bbc.co.uk/schedules/p00fzl6b

Well if Diana can take out Granada Talk TV, I can't rule out Philip taking out BBC Four Wink

Could you imagine if you know who was doing the CA for ITV today and had to announce anything or comment on it as part of a link?

Yes, I would agree that any rolling coverage should be on BBC 1 and ITV but the other channels really should try and resume some sort of altered or normal programming schedule.

What is the point of having 5 channels all with people repeating the same thing over and over between now and midday tomorrow? Not everyone also will want to see that and will simply rather watch their regular programmes. Not to mention that this is the death of one person and well over 125,000 people have died in the past year in the UK alone from a deadly disease that is ravaging the world. A sense of perspective should be paramount in this coverage in the coming hours and days.

Prince Philip has Died - London Lite - 09-04-2021

In a change of schedule, LBC are bringing in Iain Dale to present a tribute show from 10pm-1am.

Eurovision has a lot of standup OBs booked for the 17th which seems a random date, Is that maybe the media being told the funeral date as I havent seen it anywhere else?

Couldn't BBC4 just show some historic documentaries or even royal family documentaries? Strange to close down the channel.

Prince Philip has Died - ConorM98 - 09-04-2021

Any word on the cancelled episodes of the soaps tonight?
Surely they could reschedule them to Monday?

Sky News said we are in 8 days of national mourning which suggests the funeral will be next Saturday but its not being confirmed yet

Nick Abbott presenting the obit coverage could have been... interesting

I never knew this. It is a tad annoying that except for CBBC, all BBC channels this evening are broadcasting the same obit programming. They might as well just tell most viewers under around 35 to just go away and log onto their SVODs

It does seem odd, and it is also very odd for BBC 1 and 2 to be in simulcast. I remember with Diana BBC 2 split away about lunchtime I think?

Nothing confirmed, I'd say Monday at the earliest, can see them delayed further
