I think generally they are the same appeal but occassionally the BBC do their own version. John Vause was on for the 5am shift of CNN Newsroom in Atlanta. Michael Holmes showed up during Rosemary Church's shift at 3am ET. I saw Harrington on Sky News as well, but I noticed that the SMS code is "SKY" while ITV uses the SMS code "CRISIS". I wonder if the difference in the SMS code is for tracking purposes, or do they consider matching the donations given through their platform? Are any other TV channels out there who are covering this story. War in Ukraine - bkman1990 - 04-03-2022 Michael Holmes of CNN has just broke the news that the fire at the nuclear power plant at Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine has been extinguished. It's a great relief for the people who live in Ukraine & who are currently fleeing the country at the moment to go into other parts of Europe. I do wonder though if the processing of the coolant at the plant had been interuptted at all. That development would cause a major humanitarian disaster for people who live in a large part of Ukraine and possibly for other parts of Europe particularly for all of the news broadcasters & print journalists who are based out there at the moment. War in Ukraine - bakamann - 04-03-2022 Sky News is now reporting that the Roskomnadzor, the Russian telecoms regulator, has restricted access to BBC Russian service, which is totally expected. Do people in Russia find ways to access the BBC, even before the tightening of information by the Kremlin? bkman1990 post_id=71556 time= user_id=922 Wrote:I see CNN are now covering the evolving situation about the fire of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. Do people in Russia find ways to access the BBC, even before the tightening of information by the Kremlin? BBC Russian Service is only made available online by the BBC and Russian ISPs have either blocked it or severely reduced the speed for any video and audio content long ago. It’s been more or less unusable for most for a while. BBC World is not carried by Russian TV providers (some do/did carry international BBC entertainment channels). In Russia it is illegal to use a VPN service (prison sentence) unless the VPN provider applies the same restrictions the Russian ISPs apply, so in effect rendering a VPN useless. This may change now if the gov of Russia decide to strictly enforce the law. It is a similar situation with the law that requires everyone who uses the internet to register their details, it is widely ignored by services such as hotels etc. War in Ukraine - AndrewP - 04-03-2022 Adsales101 post_id=71567 time= user_id=1759 Wrote:BBC Russian Service is only made available online by the BBC and Russian ISPs have either blocked it or severely reduced the speed for any video and audio content long ago.The BBC also has an onion on TOR website, which I presume some people might be able to access. They've also restarted SW broadcasts of World Service English to Russia and Ukraine. I don't think Russia actively does much jamming nowadays, although wouldn't be surprised if they started jamming them. Perhaps the Russian and Ukrainian services will launch a temporary radio service.
