As much as I like Ria reporting, I wish ITN would just hire a 6pm presenter where the role is to simply present that bulletin and possibly the late as well, so there's stability with viewers rather than a mix of Charlene, Lucrezia, Duncan Tonight, Geraint Vincent, Ronke Phillips, Ria Chatterjee and anyone who just happens to be on shift that day.

I don't think it helps also when Hannah Emerson Thomas, ITV News London's editor has been seconded to 5 News to relaunch their bulletin.
The 6pm bulletin in London should be the flagship regional bulletin in London with a presenter who doesn't have to share their duties with the network bulletins or works on a light entertainment programme during the day. Charlene White I have no issue with as a presenter/journalist, but clearly can't dedicate her time to the London bulletin in addition to Loose Women and her network news shifts.

Quite surprised they've never bought Kylie Pentelow into the London Tonight fold. Indeed as combining the main 6pm role with either the lunchtime bulletin or the main cover for the evening bulletins doesn't really seem to work perhaps combining with the weekend national would make more sense, with one presenter doing Sun-Wed and another doing Thu-Sat.
Without getting into rota talk too much Charlene seems to be on the Evening News almost as much as Mary nowadays.

Seriously though, ever since Al Stewart left the programme in 2009 (in fact I'd argue well before that - since LNN closed in 2004), it seems to have had a revolving door of presenters. Anyone else remember the days of Andrew Castle and John Stapleton filling in? No consistency at all...

Yes, I remember that! Such a strange choice... Matt Teale did it for a bit as well, in-between Al leaving and Donal joining.

Yes London has really lost its identity with the attachment to ITN and the revolving door of presenters.
It needs an established presenter, or partnership like most ITV regions to give it an identity of it's own. Regional news teams and presenters usually develop some form of connection with their viewers but this seems impossible in London.

I'm not a London viewer, but even i've noticed the ever revolving presenters of the 6pm bulletin. It needs a stable presenter that the public automatically know will present it - a bit like Lucy Meacock with Granada. Charlene should probably step aside - with her roles at Loose Women and ITV News Network and allow Lucrezia or Duncan become main anchor.

You'd still have the problem with Lucrezia also providing cover with the network which can lead to the revolving door of presenters. It needs to be a shift that isn't connected with the national bulletin to provide consistency through the week.
