Complete balls-up by BBC Radio Ulster: the on-air presenter took it upon himself to break the news (at 12:09), in a clear breach of the BBC's strict obit guidelines for a category 1 death, before opting into the News channel (or was it 5Live?) just seconds before the big red button was pressed in London and all the BBC's radio stations were recalled to Network for the official announcement by Tom Sanders. It has been known for quite some time what would happen on such an occasion, so there really is very little excuse for Ulster making such a hash of it. Sounded very messy.
