I know it’s been similar for a while but last year Blankety Blank and The Wheel were new additions. The previous year Gavin and Stacey. What else suits it though? Mrs Brown has new episodes, so doesn't feel right. I guess the Royle Family? Gavin & Stacey has already got a repeat earlier in the month, then others of recent years seem to be more family/pre-watershed than for the late night slot? Confirmed schedules for Christmas 2021 - London Lite - 01-12-2021 ITV will upload their Christmas Day shows to the Hub from 7am on the 25th. https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2021/12/01/itv-to-stream-top-christmas-shows-ahead-of-linear-broadcast/ Confirmed schedules for Christmas 2021 - Brekkie - 01-12-2021 The Office would have been a good choice given BBC2 have just started reruns mark it's 20th anniversary, but they only get through Series 1 before Christmas, not that that particularly matters. Ultimately though the slot is not restricted to recent times so the BBC has a significant back catalogue they can use just to add a bit of variation. But of course these are the same schedulers and commissioners who think Mrs Brown's Boys for 15 odd years running is what we want. It’s about as Christmassy as you get, even if they do show it every year. Almost as traditional as Channel 4 showing The Snowman.Brekkie post_id=56266 time= user_id=976 Wrote:My biggest complaint is using Vicar of Dibley yet again for the late night classic comedy slot - even if they can't vary the new stuff surely they can vary the old stuff. The only 'cut' is at 1800 There seems to be more news than normal on BBC1 between Christmas and New Year this year. Whilst I guess exact durations may vary to usual, the 'late' national news+regional news+weather combination has the normal weekday 35 minute slot between the 27th and 30th December - and for three of those days remains at 2200 as usual. Meanwhile at lunch on the 29th+31st there is a 40 minute news slot and on the 30th a 45 minute slot, all at 1300 as usual. (Obviously the 29th, 30th and 31st are not holidays, but in recent years have been treated like they are for news purposes) Confirmed schedules for Christmas 2021 - lobster - 01-12-2021 What depressing lineups, can’t believe BBC One is doing the same schedule again (or maybe I can), looks like Netflix is going to be taking a beating again. Confirmed schedules for Christmas 2021 - all new Phil - 01-12-2021 ‘Anything Goes’ on Boxing Day on BBC2 - the recent stage show recorded at The Barbican in London. I thoroughly recommend. I don't think comedy necessarily has to be more suited to late night but the problem is not enough comedy has been produced in recent times to avoid the same stuff being shown. Every year we get a ton of specials for factual shows which is fair enough but they are less likely to get repeated and viewers wouldn't stand for them late night anyhow. Add to that, the BBC for whatever reason have moved away from showing the likes of The Two Ronnies (on BBC1 at least) so the amount of content to choose from is very limited. Confirmed schedules for Christmas 2021 - Gary Baldy - 02-12-2021 I don't get the backlash over the BBC schedule- it's not like it's the exact same episodes of last year's shows. Clearly the shows they aired last year rated well enough for them to air them again this year. I feel ITV's schedule is much lazier- it's just their usual daytime schedule with Christmas slapped on the label. Surprised Channel 4's schedule includes Cats Does Countdown- I'd have thought production on that had stopped due to Lock's death. I assume the Christmas ep is a repeat? Or maybe just filmed months in advance. Channel 5 are good at varying their shows on Christmas- but then they do that most of the time anyway, even when it's not Christmas, which I quite enjoy, because then I can think to myself, "what's on Channel 5" and won't have a clue what it'll be until I flick over to it. Confirmed schedules for Christmas 2021 - Tim G - 02-12-2021 I'm neither surprised nor particularly bothered, that the BBC One schedule is the same this year as last. Back in the day of three or four channels, and no streaming, there was so much more for them to fight for, and win, ratings wise. In these multichannel/streaming times, viewership is so much more fragmented, frankly why not just go for what works? It wouldn't really matter what they put up, nothing is ever going to hit the dizzy heights of the 20+ million type ratings now. I'm not saying "just give up, don't bother" - more, don't waste everything budget wise on just a day or two when, whatever they do, it's never going to reach the levels of the 70s, 80s and 90s. I'm happy to know I'll basically enjoy what's on, and that they haven't blown the budget on one day, leaving us with just dross for the next few months. |
