There’s a signed afternoon opt from November 2006 on YouTube I saw

Sameena presenting on her own today on ITV News Central as it was revealed at the end of the show that Bob had been instructed to self-isolate by the NHS app this afternoon.

So might be back to single headed bulletins until Bob returns after 10 days.

Abbie Dewhurst Of BBC Look North doing the weather for EMT and Midlands Today Tonight

Seems as though BBC Midlands Today is joining up with East Midlands tonight.

Looks like they opted for the Headlines a little early, and then had to awkwardly fill the extra time until they could opt back to the titles.

Branded as ‘BBC Midlands’ like the shared Breakfast bulletins during the pandemic.

Although they’re using stings that say ‘Midlands Today’. Bit of a mish mash.

Verbally it was namechecked as Midlands Today, the titles were Midlands Today branded with a mixture of shots from EMT and MT but the rotating place names all replaced with ‘Midlands Today’. Studio display as you said had BBC Midlands written on it.

I suppose it’s a display of the usual business continuity plans for both Birmingham and Nottingham, as both sites probably have Midlands Today branded titles on their servers.

One of the North regions had some that were branded for more than one region - I think - and the title Look North wasn’t used (I want to say ‘the North Today’ or similar).

Edit: ‘North Today’ was seen when all 3 Look Norths were rolled into one last year, referenced in the blue place

I think the North Today thing was a cockup, it didn't go out across multiple regions, Leeds played it out by accident one lunchtime.

Wonder if east and West Midlands will combine over the weekend?

A new face on EMT weather. Oly Woodcock

The new new NEW Central West and BBC Midlands Thread - Steve in Pudsey - 22-08-2021

Interesting. He's a BBC Radio Leeds reporter, he presents their show for the LGBT community and stands in across the schedule. I daresay comparisons to Owain Wyn Evans will be made.

I presume that "Oly" is a diminutive of Oliver?

The more usual spellings (Oli, Ollie, or Olly) actually *look* like they're pronounced rhyming with "trolley", whereas that spelling looks like it should be pronounced rhyming with "holy".

Is it one of Robin's more obscure exclamations?! - "(H)oly woodcock, Batman!" ?

Indeed, but I'm sure it was designed for use in that eventuality.

I think that's beyond doubt.

And yes Oly is pronounced like Olly.
