Internationalman post_id=61229 time= user_id=2360 Wrote:I would like to take this opportunity to wish the British Broadcasting Corporation a happy 100 years of its service. Founded on the 18th of October, 1922 by the government of the United Kingdom, and first led under the authority of Lord John Reith, The Beeb has survived as an institution through its significant work in the the war, to being the inspiration for many other broadcasters like it, such as the NHK. Its global reach is vast and its ideals inspiring, even in its many imperfections. And as the BBC plans to evolve and celebrate being the oldest public broadcaster in the world, we at TV Live will be monitoring these jubilations, the way we do it best.

I don't think it's just the oldest public broadcaster, I think it's the oldest broadcaster period. That's quite a feat.

If you were to make a serious guess as to when the new icons will start to be used, when do you think it would happen?

A good estimate is between February-Sometime in the middle of the year.

One thing that I have to say I don't like about the new look so far is that for some programme trailers they use the programmes logo, and its there, large and in the centre of the screen. Fair enough. But for some other trails, they just put the programmes name in plain text, align it to the left, and it just looks lost, particularly if its a short title. I wish they would use the programme logo always, but even when that isn't possible, put the programme title either always on the left or always in the centre.

That happens normally on every channel I know. Most of the time, the usage of text is for older programmes.

They're inconsistant. During the Hull City vs Everton match, I saw the new One and iPlayer logos on one graphic, and the old ones on another!

You do get the impression that BBC Sport are being made to be this inconsistent to reinforce the phased approach to this soft launch.

They’re usually bang on with their branding and so I can’t imagine this is by accident.

Why does that sound awfully rude to do?

I think they've done a few shows in UHD but now see The Tourist advert has been updated to to end "Press RED to watch in UHD". First time I've seen UHD advertised in that manner.

Is that channel the replacement of CBeebies in U.S.?

BBC (Miscellaneous): 2021 Rebrand - JAS84 - 13-01-2022

No it isn't. BBC Kids and Cbeebies both exist in Australia (BBC Kids launched last year with the new logo already in place). It's CBBC, not Cbeebies.

No, this for Pluto TV, ViacomCBS' free streaming service with live style channels, there's two channels with the same logo one in English, the other is Spanish. CBeebies is on Pay TV still.
