I would have thought that the RT feed on Freeview is taken from the Astra satellite feed for simplicity, but I might well be barking up the wrong tree there.
If it is the case, it'll go dark on freeview when Astra pull the plug.
Fear for what may unfold over the next 24 hours and as a viewer every instinct is for journalists to get the hell out of Kyiv. I suspect though for many of those reporting from the city the instinct is to stay and continue to tell the story of what's unfolding to the world. Nothing but respect for them all.

I note there is a Ukraine map/flag outline in the transition effect between the BBC News headlines now. There's probably a more technical name for it, but transition is all I can think of!
I wonder if this is to differentiate the Ukraine headlines from any others (if any others make the headline sequence) or just a special coverage graphic in general.

Like who? Lyse Doucet is already doing the NC and WN, and no doubt radio. I don’t think they have any other senior presenters in Ukraine right now, and given the difficulties getting into/out of Kyiv and that live broadcasts outside seem increasingly riskier, I don’t see the BBC sending anyone else into the country at this point.

He must be due a break!Sadly war doesn't take days off. I think back during the Iraq War many anchors were on air seven nights a week for the couple of months it lasted.
They are there to do a job and having journalists there having "days off" isn't really practical and also unnecessarily adds to the people at risk on location.
