Find the first 6-minute survey in the list. That should get you the correct survey (the screening questions might not immediately make it clear it's the right one, but it should be).

I first saw the 1997 logo printed in a national newspaper about six months before its on-screen debut, and have to say I was not overly impressed - it just looked a bit bland and boring compared to what we were used to. It wasn't until October when I saw it in context with the rest of the new-look presentation that it started to make more sense and I quickly grew to like it. Hopefully the same will be true this time around.
In fact, with the smaller, slightly bolder letters and larger gaps between the boxes, the new logo actually feels like a closer evolution of the late 80s logo than the 1997 one did.

I must admit it was love at first sight for me.
At that time, I was aware of things like fonts, spacing, etc because I loved the Sky branding. I didn't really know what any of the fonts were called at the time (this was pre-my getting a computer) but I know what I liked so to speak.
The magazine had about 2-3 pages on the branding and I think I saw the ONE and TWO next to it - it's that far back in time this may actually be a false memory but I remember when seeing the logos on screen, I wasn't surprised by it.
I may be one of the very few who really love the 88-97 logo and I didn't really think it needed changing (since seeing that MLN video, I now understand the reasoning).
I do see your point particularly with both the bolder letters, larger gaps, and almost the padding within the boxes too.
Sorry but still hate it though :?

I didn’t get the BBC Two or iPlayer questions.
From what I saw it is quite radical, and I would be a little concerned that these symbols / logos aren’t especially recognisable. I suppose that’s why you do these kinds of surveys.
Weather was certainly the most recognisable, perhaps because the app colour was the same.
As said, if this means a broad refresh of BBC presentation that’s been in desperate need for a decade, let’s give it a go.

It is like 1988-1997 logo but no slanted and without three coloured lines like that below:

There are many people who growns up with the '88 logo thanks to VHS releases by the BBC at the time.

Thanks for the pointers re the survey. I too got very Office 365 vibes from the proposed new symbols, and I really do fear that they are just too abstract for any kind of casual recognition. I also agree that it is quite W1A.
However, as has been said a number of times, we’re all up for something radical if it means shaking up the overall branding across the BBC, so bring it on and we’ll see how it goes. For once, it seems to be a properly joined-up, total reinvention of the whole brand across everything, which can only be a good thing.
Anybody else notice the 2002-era BBC One box at the channel-picking question at the start (the same place where the ITV2 logo mentioned earlier was seen)? Made me chuckle, anyway…

I think there are a few different versions of the survey. Personally, I saw BBC Sport and iPlayer. I still don’t love the new boxes in their simplest form, but I do like the 3 line motif they seem to be going for - from the little I've seen it looks like they’re taking the three boxes and adapting their shape/size/spacing/colouring to create individual graphic logos or symbols for each sub brand.
I think it could work well, especially once people get used to the new symbols. It’s very appropriate in an App-driven world, but there is a limit on how you can arrange three lines or boxes in a way which is immediately different enough to be recognisable on its own.
As has previously been mentioned though, W1A’s Perfect Curve already played with the concept of “removing the letters” years ago so they weren’t far off the mark!!

Well, I suppose it all fits with their general air of reality no longer being distinguishable from satire. It was always the old joke that news designers thought that The Day Today was a training manual, maybe the branding department felt they were missing out.
